So starting 9-0 moved us up a composite 0.4 spots? Would have hated to see it if we had lost a game.

It'll be more than that when they all come out...

The average column isn't auto-updating in the SPS spreadsheet format -- I have to manually input it -- and I won't touch that part until we have at least 3-4 polls... We are up 3 in CollegiateBaseball to #9...

Maybe I misunderstood, I was thinking the 10.6 avg this week was apples to apples with the composite avg of 11 from last week. Is that not correct?

No. 10.6 is our composite average "rank" from last week. It will be better than that this week when all polls finish updating. Our preseason composite average "rank" was 13.6 as seen here(so we moved up 3.0 spots last week): http://forums.sixpackspeak.com/showthread.php?101317-Preseason-College-Baseball-Polls

The composite at the bottom of the page is actual rankings(in whole numbers) of everyone's composite scores -- it has little to do with the numbers themselves...just how they relate to others in the top 20...

Hey engie - thanks for doing this. Love it. Got a question/suggestion.

When you update it every week can you move the previous week's composite to a separate column so we can track everyone's progress thru the season? It might get too wide at some point but it would be interesting data to watch. To be fair, I did the preseason and week 1 ones and pasted below, but double check me.

Are you suggesting just the previous week, or all previous weeks? I think having an individual column for all previous weeks' averages would be over kill. It might be in everyone's best interests to keep a reference to the old posts and use those for each week's information. For layout examples, refer to DS's list of links and dates for "This is Our Show"

All previous week, so if you wondered how a team's rankings had fluctuated throughout the year, it would be read across the line, not click back through past posts. I don't find that to be overkill at all, but I plan my vacations in Excel, so I am a weeeee bit to the geek side of things.

It would be simple for plugging into excel and viewing each week. The problem I have with your idea is the board's layout is not built for a wide range of columns. Perhaps DS could open a separate page up on the board for a working grid that contains all rankings to date, plus each week's running average, etc...

And to add, I see nothing wrong with planning vacations in excel

All rankings now updated for this week.

Feel free to do that if you'd like DAA -- or I'll compile something after we get 5-6 weeks in. Getting a couple of interesting thoughts on methods to "evaluate the polls" -- but I'll keep those to myself until I figure out a good way to execute it.

As far as looking back at these for everyone else(until I update them), they should be all easily located by clicking on my username and then started threads. I don't start many of them, so they should be on the first page or 2 of results...
