THIS Friday at the Dude, Manhattan Jaspers in town. This is a must win game for Omaha. How many days?
I forgot we were waiting for...
Did you make a similar post last year after seeing Stephen and his 5+ ERA from Purdue would be a weekend starter? Or Cijntje and his 8+ era?looks like a step down from what we had last season.
Wonder if any of them will pitch deep into the game... or if the Tuesday game at USM we are saving an arm for?
nah... not really, didnt know what to expect from them. These guys are more known commodities than those two... but i think its fair to say what another poster said. They look like Saturday or Sunday guys.. not Friday nighters.Did you make a similar post last year after seeing Stephen and his 5+ ERA from Purdue would be a weekend starter? wouldnt surpise me if this is Lemonis giving the ol Johnny Long/Luke Hancock hat tip to these guys and running them out to give them first shot at it. Against a college that hasnt had a winning season in nearly 15 years like Manhattan... we should 10 run regardless of whose pitching.1) Holy hell, opening weekend is this weekend???
2) I hope that these guys make me look like a complete idiot, but the fact that we've got Friday/Sunday guys that have pitched a combined 40 innings in the last 2+ years does not give me the warm and fuzzies
Hell, he has an 8-Track in his 73 El Camino that he bought new when he graduated high school.Stone Simmons knows how to burn a CD with MP3’s from Napster

Listening to the lemonis interview-- seems like Sullivan is locked into the DH role. And that the INF seems set minus second base... and the OF is going to be a mixture of 5-6 guys to match up of offensive guys and defensive guys based on whose pitching and matchups.I haven’t kept up with much during the offseason, but what’s the word on how Nolan Stevens will be used?
Apparently Ligon is consistently in the mid to upper 90's. Control will be the issue, but we have a competent pitching coach now so improvement from all three won't be a shock.
Per Lemonis, they want to use him as a reliever or as he said...a guy that can come in and get three big outs.I haven’t kept up with much during the offseason, but what’s the word on how Nolan Stevens will be used?
Ron Polk 2? Are you really trying to compare Lemonis to Polk??? That's a stretch.Ron Polk 2. Not bad enough and too much history to fire. Visible recruiting drops ensure we won't be a contender.
I am assuming you mean that Polk is significantly better than Lemonis.Ron Polk 2? Are you really trying to compare Lemonis to Polk??? That's a stretch.
We'll know more after this year, but that seems unduly pessimistic. Polk II went 93-113 in the SEC, with losing conference records in 5 out of 7 seasons. Lemonis is sitting at 75-75 at this point, with winning conference records in 3 out of 5 seasons.Ron Polk 2. Not bad enough and too much history to fire. It's a scary rotation. All three have had serious arm issues.
My bad, I see what you were getting at. Covid year aside, I believe this year puts Lemo at same length of Polk's second tenure as well. Lemo's tenure is certainly marred by the 22 and 23 seasons, but hopefully at the end of this season we'll be talking about how he turned it around.I am assuming you mean that Polk is significantly better than Lemonis.
But in truth, I was more comparing Lemonis to Polk's second tenure. Settling into mediocrity.
This is the correct take. Parker made a huge difference last year. It'll be even more evident this year. I'm also thinking most are selling Pico short. He could be special if he stays healthy and grounded.I'm never bullish on anything MSU related, but I think some of yall are selling Coach Parker short. I'm not saying our pitching lineup is going to look like 2025 Dodgers, but I think we could be presently surprised if everyone stays healthy.
While there is always uncertainty around a pitching staff, one thing is certain. Neither Simmons or Kohn will be making any mid-week starts unless they need some rehab work. It's definitely not cumulatively some of the high end arm talent on the roster, but Ligon was a weekend guy at Miami. He struggled with injuries there and at State last year. Stone and Pico are solid high floor/low ceiling guys. If I had to guess, I'd say Ligon, if healthy and the control has improved, will stay in the rotation all year while one of Simmons or Kohn get moved to the bullpen or midweek starter. Just my two cents. This roster has some serious arm talent(on paper - feel like we've been saying this for a while now) that has never pitched an inning of college ball.
