If he played in Texas I find it hard to believe his measurements alone would not have made him higher-rated. I think he's got the athletic potential to be very special.

Nebraska kid joining the party. Riley beats out Frost for a local kid. Good news.
There was never any competition as I said many times since he got the offer...was always going to be N..

TE OR DE....We shall see
You must be kidding...TE the kid can flat out high point the ball and has great leaping ability for his size...Very tough matchup in the end zone...They don't make big basketball players DE...they become TE...Could be one of the most underated recruits next year....Awesome get...

I wonder if he can gain a good 90 lbs and be a OT? I can dream.

Either way, happy to have him!
Read my mind. Posted in other thread. He's only what 17? Already 6'8 225. Give him 2 or 3 years could be a 300 LB OT. Just saying he has the frame to play a few positions. Has the frame to grow. He has options.

Defiantly a miss match for future opponents.

Maybe Miles could use his service as well down the road.Winking

Never a bad idea to load up on the big boys at TE and let the cream rise. GBR

As a TE he could be an incredible asset. With his size and athleticism he could be a great third down target and inside the 10 he could develop into an almost guaranteed TD.

Nice pick up! Seems to be pretty athletic for a 6'8 kid. After he received his offer, I think Sharpe and Benning were saying he may not be done growing, if my memory is correct.

6 8 athletes......heck yes get as many as you can. I had the same thought at others - seems like a frame that could fill out to play OT but if he can get bigger stronger a TE that size could be a great asset.

Really good to see this and I think we need more NE kids

From 2010 to 2014 we signed 13 NE kids to schollies 2.6/yr - 69% of these ended either starting or playing a bunch
From 1990 to 1994 we 31 NE kids or an average of 6.2/yr this was in the lead up to our best run in program history

It started with Callahan and then got worse with Pelini the thought that in state kids were not deserving of scholarships - Ne is way under evaluated when it comes to football talent. I hope Riley signs a bunch of kids this year and stops the out flow of talent from Nebraska to other programs

Other than Ott and the kid that went to Stanford what was the other big out flow of talent? Also remember that the present limit of 85 scholarships did not come in to place until 1992, so before that you have 95 scholarships you could give out.

I would like to see more Nebraska kids on the team as well, but I do think the HS talent in the state has been underwhelming in the last 10 or so year. Especially at the skill positions.

In the last few years - Fant-Bubak-Lenners- Bazata-Holtorf - Fischer-Lacouture - Phillips - Ott

It seems that when the recruiting sites geared up their ranking systems that all of the sudden NE became devoid of talent - where previously there were many players deserving of scholarships and this was validated by on the field play - all of the sudden now there were only a couple a year. Now yes we had and still have the walkon players but it is nowhere near what it was as many kids are now getting offers from D2 schools - I just wonder if Pelini and Callahan missed out on a important recruiting source

Phillips and Ott are obviously 2 big losses when you look at how they could have contributed to the DL depth over the last few seasons.

Others that come to mind are:
Noah Keller played well for Ohio and tried out for a couple NFL teams.
Nathan Bazata.
Christian Lacouture (more of a lost battle than a kid that was overlooked).
Trevor Robinson (another lost battle - Note: I don't consider Harrison Phillips a 'lost battle' because his recruitment was a disaster)
Daryle Hawkins - had a good senior year at WR for Oregon

I don't think we should really count that one. He wasn't a Nebraska kid to begin with. He only became one after he moved here when he originally committed to Nebraska in the first place.
