But I guess that's it. Unbelievable. The man that IS Mississippi State University has signed off for the last time. I did something today I have not done in many, many years. Due to their making me so nervous over the years (football team, basketball team, baseball team) I cannot sit and listen/watch a game on radio or tv from start to finish. I can sit at the game and be fine, but watching on tv or tuned in to the radio broadcast is tough. I usually just check in periodically and watch the clock to determine at what point in the game in question we are at. Just try to keep busy doing something else unless I am actually there.

But today, I tuned in from the time Jack and Jim came on the air until they signed off. I did not watch on tv, but listened nostalgically and hung on every call. Just like I had done so many times for as far back as I can remember. Far back being the 74-0 debacle at Houston in 1969, or whenever that was. I can remember sitting out in the car trying to locate a station to catch a basketball or football score when my family would be out of town. I remember a hunting trip in Texas a number of years ago, driving around downtown Houston, TX (how ironic), one Saturday night, catching a weird skip on some AM station and hearing a familiar voice say "and at center for the Bulldogs, the 6'-8" senior from Flora, Cameron Burns". There has never been, and never will be, a man more synonymous with Mississippi State University than Jack Cristil.

Props to you Stans, and your team, for that unbelievable effort today. I will admit, I had absolutely 0 confidence that this team could go into UT's place and pull this off. But my hat is off to all of you. Well done sirs, well done. For all the crap you have taken this year, and I am as guilty as anyone else, you have my heartfelt thanks for sending Jack out on this note. To hear him wrap this final game in Maroon and White is beyond description. A big salute to you and the team.

There was a time when the only means of info on Mississippi State gameswas WCPC radio and Jack's voice. There was no ESPN, cell phones or 250 channels with sports on fifty of them. We listened to this man's voice and hung on every word much like I did yesterday. You know something, I could picture the game as well from his voice as I could by watching it on TV.

Goodbye Mr. Jack, this day will be remembered. And a heartfelt thank you to this basketball team for going into TN and getting that win. Simply Beautiful!

Back in the 60's when I was a teen, the radio was it. You rarely ever saw MSU on tv. Jack was the only means to staying connected to the game. I'm afraid I drifted from the radio the last few years and didn't listen to Jack very much. I hate that I didn't listen to him more this past year. But I did turn off the tv for this last game and only followed via the radio and Jack. Another great memory.

to a University as Jack has to MSU. I really have a hard time finding one. The Bear comes to mind. I think Jack is right up there with him.

the whole time as well. I have been disappointed in this team this year but was very proud of them last night. I want to especially thank Wendell Lewis. There is no doubt in my mind but that he has a Bulldog's Heart and will be a very good player for us going forward.

I sat on my patio on Saturday evening, under my tailgate tent, with an old radio on the table with a cowbell beside it and listened to the entire broadcast.

We're going to miss you Jack!!!!
