From ESPN Insider article on CJ. It was fun while it lasted.

“I love the coaching staff at Ole Miss,” Jones said. “Hugh Freeze is a great guy and more a mentor than a coach. I told him if he stopped coaching today he could go be a preacher. Ole Miss is a great school that can be a championship team under Hugh Freeze. They have a lot of big-time recruits coming in this year and the potential for the program is as good as anywhere. Ole Miss really showed me a lot, and I did not know they had this much to offer as a program, but really both schools are great.”Jones admits he has a feeling which way he is leaning.

“I think I have my mind made up,” Jones said. “I am excited about the people I will be surrounded with at that program. I have not told my parents, and I am not going to worry about making them or anyone unhappy. I am ready to make the best decision for me. Some people’s feelings might get hurt, but sometimes you cannot make everyone happy. A couple people might get angry on Facebook and Twitter too, but that is life. I will announce my decision on signing day, and I do not plan to tell either school before then."

I am in the "Jones is leaning to OM" crowd also but I don't think these quotes

mean very much...

Right off the heels of a crazy weekend.... Who knows how these quotes sounded when given. I would base my view of things more off of where he spent Fri and Sat night...

Then think about how positive people within the State camp continue to be all the way to "Jones will be a bulldog no matter what you hear".

Then think about the parent OM has and the parent we kinda sorta still have...

Just saying I am basing my expectations off of where they spent their time this weekend instead of yet another cloudy article. Murky situation no doubt but you do have FACTS about where they were all weekend to base your opinion off of....

And we know that Mullen is an incredible closer as well. So there's that.

..."Ole Miss really showed me a lot, and I did not know they had this much to offer as a program, but really both schools are great."

“I think I have my mind made up,” Jones said....

To me the first and second paragraphs are not related. He ends his Ole Miss points by mentioning he likes both schools.

In all honesty, if he really is wavering on his commitment, he should go ahead and de-commit. Maybe he did to the coaches, who knows. He shouldn't really say he is committed to us then sign somewhere else on the final day. Just de-commit then make your decision.

I'm not even sure they're "quotes". It just doesn't sound like the verbiage of a high school football player. Sounds more like something an English teacher would write.

He should go where he wants to go. I don't see how this has anything to do with Mullen.

Indndawg, my thoughts exactly. I tell my own children and the kids I coach "show me, don't tell me." Or another saying used by so many "actions speak louder than words". If he drops us, I will be the first to say I was wrong. But I do know this, before you break up with a pretty young lady that has treated you real nice.....you normally sugar her up. Or in the words of George Costanza "it's not you.....it's me." That's what I read from that piece. Based on his actions this weekend and where he was I feel pretty good. Plus I might know something more than others. But as I have stated before I won't share until I see the writing on the wall. But I know that Cadaver & C34 all live in three different regions and have heard the exact same thing.

When it's gotten to the point where the consensus is he is cheating on a girl from his hometown - the tea leaves are apparent to pretty much everyone but us........

To me, all that is trumped by his comments about ole miss

You don't talk about how a school is going to compete for championships when you plan on going to their rival. We managed to lose him, and it sucks. Our only hope is that somehow momma can help our cause before wednesday.

What is funny is that a lot of Ole Miss fans read that and think he is MSU bound

I still haven't seen a single person on Ole Miss boards guarantee Chris Jones that wasn't just trying to get under MSU's skin. I still think he signs with MSU.

I would think that since C34 is the only one real reliable info on Jones, that MSU still has to be the heavy favorite.

Yup. And if they do get him along with the rest of the their class, they will be a thorn in many butts in the SEC.

Well technically he's not gone until he faxes paperwork somewhere...

but all this cloak and dagger stuffs doesn't give me a warm fuzzy. Usually when we are getting someone its pretty plain to see we are getting them. OM is much more into the drama recruiting.

WE WANT CHRIS JONES!

Y'all don't worry I have confirmed with one of my sources in the athletic dept that Chris is only in Oxford to chase tail. Don't know why he prefers the Oxford tail over the Starkville tail but it is what it is. At the basketball game Saturday he was definitely all over a girl here in Starkville. I saw that with my own 2 eyes. Ashton shumpert who is close to Chris Jones has also said that Jones is committed to state and that is where he is going. Just pour yourself a drink and relax until Wednesday fellas.

Good one Chris, maybe if this professional pay for hire tackle football thing doesnt pan out, you could do some stand up.

I know this does not sound good; however (and, yes, this is just my two cents -- I have no "sources"):

Chris seems to be a very respectful young man. I think he does not want Freeze to feel bad because of all the effort he is putting out towards him right now. My son is being recruited by a few schools because of his grades and his test scores. I see the exact same thing with him. He feels bad about the schools who are putting so much effort into recruiting him when he knows he will not be going there.

Also, as an attorney (yes, not only OM folks are ones), when the judge begins talking about all the positives of one side's argument, the other side automatically knows they have won. I am not saying that is the case here, but it does strike a familiar chord. I hope I am right. Jones would fit in very well at MSU.

18 year old kids are not lawyers

In recruiting, it never happens that way. When a kid starts talking about a school winning championships, he is not going to attend the rival school.

I hope I'm wrong.

Forgot to mention

I also saw with my own two eyes Megan Mullen plant a big ole SMACK'a'ROO right on the cheek of Jones. She then said "see you in a couple weeks Chris". This happened right after the basketball game ended. Anyone leaving the student section from that game would have saw it. Also several men, whose ethnicities I will not mention, were giving Chris handshakes and bro hugs. Just telling you what I saw.

Really?

I had no idea 18 year olds weren't lawyers. Thank you so much for that. My point is that it is human nature to butter up the one you are about to drop.

That said, I also thought there was no way he would have been in Oxford at 2 a.m. at a Chevron to be spied on by Yancey. So what do I know?

Nkemdiche talked of winning championships at Clemson. Remember how that worked out for them? You cannot make absolute statements regarding 18 year old kids either. My feeling is that it is up in the air, with State the favorite as he has not de-committed. I also hope you are wrong.

I don’t read much into it. Sure, it doesn’t give me warm fuzzies to hear him go on and on about how great OM is, but these quotes don’t make me lose all hope.

Guess we’ll all just have to hope for the best. It can’t be overstated what a huge blow it would be to lose him to the Bears.

why did you need to bring up not mentioning their ethnicities? do tell?

FYI, this is a trap. HD6 is watching very closely. Respond wisely.

I just got a text from a friend of mine that talked to Ashton Shumpart last night. Ashton told him that "Jones is coming to State, he's just running tail in Oxford"

Don't know why he prefers the Oxford tail over the Starkville tail but it is what it is.
Because he's going to be smashing Starkville tail for the next 4 years, so he's getting some from Oxford while he can. /obvious
