Going to be a great new conference. Probably the best 7A conference in the state (ok they have one 8A school...)
The DVC will survive I think - but they really need 3 schools to make an 8 team conference. If DVC can't get the oswegos or Plainfield north or Bolingbrook ... I guess they could try and get some non con crossover games going with the CCL blue! Aren't those guys always looking for teams to put on the schedule?![]()
Two 8A schools, Lake Park and St. Charles East.
I love the new DuKane. Also, while I diasagree with Bartlett being a nice fit in football, the split of students in Carol Stream between North and Bartlett, and the proximity, would make for a sweet rivalry. The Upstate 9 is a nice league now for all remaining teams....
Elgin
Larkin
Streamwood
West Aurora
East Aurora
West Chicago
South Elgin
Bartlett
Glenbard East
I think Bartlett and West Aurora would fit nicely in the DuKane also.
I would think that Lake Park is a better fit enrollment wise and geographically with the remaining Upstate 8 schools.
What is the best guess on the 3 schools that the DVC has invited?
Oswego
Oswego East
Bolingbrook
I'm not joining if I am the Oswegos. Makes no sense from a football standpoint.
Raiders either. Playoffs are an issue. No Jim Mora.I'm not joining if I am the Oswegos. Makes no sense from a football standpoint.
Would be disappointed in the Brook, if they were not interested. Seems like a great fit. There's no reason why they wouldn't be competitive in the "new" DVC. They have the enrollment and talent to compete. Plus, their current conference is a mess.Raiders either. Playoffs are an issue. No Jim Mora.

I get why the Oswegos would not want to leave the Southwest Prairie. They are in a stable conference that makes sense from a geographical sense. However, the DVC would seem to involve less travel for Bolingbrook. Also, their current conference is a mess. The DVC would seem like a great fit for the Brook. There are some natural rivalries with the Naperville schools. The "No go" was because the DVC has no long term plan to grow the Conference. Also they will revert back to home and away for two opponents just to make a schedule work. Why would any of these schools leave the setup they currently have?

If you are the Brook, make your joining contingent upon the conference adding two other schools to bring the total number of teams to 8. If 2 others are not added, then it's a no go for the Brook.PJJP,
Would you want to play two of your conference opponents twice every year because there are not enough teams? The DVC has no plan to attempt an expansion beyond that, which I personally believe is the single biggest issue. Seriously think about who is leading the Conference today. It truly is a shame but I have a bad feeling the DVC as we know it is dead.
I would think the SWP would be a viable option. The Brook could join their Valley View partner, Romeoville. I'm guessing the SWP would need one more school to bring the total to 12 and have two divisions of 6 teams each. From what I understand there was an issue of uncertainty regarding how many games were guaranteed. With the DVC in limbo about who was in and who was out there was no way to answer.
If the other two schools are in that takes care of one issue, only 2 non con games need to be found. But all those potential losses make me queasy.
Whats the SWP looking like?

Am I misreading the Brook's current conference affiliation in the Southwest Suburban? Is the turmoil of LWN closing and the two Joliets leaving overblown? How about plans going forward for the conference? Seems like a 13-team conference needs something to happen to even things out.
How did that vote go?The Southwest Suburban needed Stagg to leave 12 teams works so much smoother then 13.

I think Oswego could hang in football, probably an annual 4-7 win team in the league. Probably be OK to bad in everything else. OE I'm not sure would compete in much on a year-to-year basis.I'm not joining if I am the Oswegos. Makes no sense from a football standpoint.
Want to stop the conference reshuffling??? DISTRICTS!
We're a basketball school now, somehow. Before this year I didnt believe it, now I do. Going DVC hurts hoops and kills football for us. Yeah we have the enrollment, but thats about it.
I think skinny jeans have done serious damage to football making it difficult to compete. If they (DVC) are trying to sell playing a conference team twice in the football regular season,.. then I get it. No one wants to do that (I think the DVC did that with one team each in 2014 before the valleys arrived?).
However - If they can make a 6 team or ideally an 8 team conference - then what is the issue?
Come on Bones - you aren't saying Boilingbrook should be worried about competing with NC/NN and the Valleys are you? Your post seems to imply that from my perception (am I right, wrong?) Additionally Some of the comments on this thread are implying that's one of the reasons schools (Oswegos) are shying away from the invite. It's not like these 5 schools are Bishop Gormans or Loyola's - they are good programs- but not world beaters. They will have up years and down years just like most other schools.
That said - me personally - I wouldn't mind 5 conference games in a six school league.
* 2 Non con games at beginning of year for warm up
* 5 Conference games
* 2 Non con games at end of year to prep for playoffs (if you have to go out of state to play some independents or privates - just a little more travel. make sure one of the games is very tough to prep for playoffs.
Hell - NC/NN/Valleys should talk to the CCL blue about a non conf game or 2 so they can prep as well? Or maybe replace the CCL crossovers if other CCL teams don't like playing Blue crossovers?
