Well, this won't be the most irrational post of the night

Kudos to whomever does win that- lots of stiff competition.

QB's- I thought both played poorly tonight. Granted, they had no protection. I don't know why he pulled Relf other than he wanted to try to get a better passer (debatable at this point) in the game. Maybe it's just me, but I thought Relf maybe tried to win the game by himself and was maybe a little selfish at times- not pitching the ball on the option. Maybe it wasn't there, and maybe it was because he .005 of a second to make a play. I'm probably reading too much into that.

O-line- Horrible. OK- yeah we are playing three freshmen or so and have had some injuries. I get that. I also get that is really good. And not to go all Bradley Sowell on Blaine Clausell because I know that he will get better- but he looks awful right now. But, if I had to say that one unit lost us this game, it would be the o-line.

Skill guys- Also bad but again, this is an extension of poor o-line play.

Defense- Played a lot better. I wish we wouldn't play so soft in the secondary and apply more pressure but this was an acceptable outing overall.

Special teams- Acceptable overall except for the weekly theme of wishing our kickoffs were deeper. But again, solid.

Coaching- I thought the play calling was boring and predictable. Bringing in Russell was questionable, as was not using a time out, as was not trying to score to end the half and conceding the game was disappointing at the end.

The officiating was ridiculous. Ticky tack personal foul call on Wade Bonner and then later, no pass interference when a guy for LSU runs up our WR back. Also- please tell me I'm mistaken- but did we really get penalized for having too many players on the field when Cox tripped, fell down, and GOT HURT after he fell? Common sense tells me if I'm an official to stop the play and allow them to get the HURT player off of the field- not throw a flag. Maybe they called it "correctly", and if that's the case, the NCAA probably needs to look at that. What made me mad about the whole thing was it appeared to me that we were being penalized because a guy got hurt and couldn't come off of the field legitimately. I just feel like if someone for LSU had tripped and gotten hurt, they probably would have stopped the game for a second for an officials timeout.

Doesn't matter if you fall down like an idiot and hurt yourself, too many men is too many men. The officials were really good, both teams got flagged for being stupid, but mostly LSU.

QBs actually didn't play half bad. Pretty much the only thing Relf did wrong was not attempt to throw it away more. Most of his called plays were for him to stay in the pocket, which collapsed almost immediately, while all of his targets were covered, and he had nowhere to run. It was sad.

but if you have the game on DVR, go back and look at the Cox "injury". He clearly took a dive to try to save us the penalty. Great head's-up play by him. Unfortunately for us, it didn't work.

</p>

What I don't understand is that the penalty was called for illegal substitution and the flag was thrown before LSU snapped the ball. I wasn't aware that the defense could be called for illegal substitution.</p>

Bottom line is both of LSU's lines are substantially better than ours. It all starts up front and we just sucked in the trenches.<div>The next problem is that our LBs are mediocre at best. The are too slow (foot speed) and too slow to react. Fortunately, their inability to make a read put them in decent position to stop the counters.</div><div>Lastly, ourdown-fieldpassing game was pathetic. On the rare occasion Ralph had time, he either made a piss poor throw, thereceiverscouldn'tget open, or we dropped the ******* ball.</div>

....LSU's KOS was much more on par with ours. You didn't have the all-world guy from Auburn booting it out of the endzone every time.

Which I guess will be like most teams. Don't know why we can't find a guy that can kick it in the endzone.

If we do this against UGA, USCe and Arky, we'll need to have an offensive outing like we had against Memphis just to keep it close because they will absolutely light us up. Lee only missed 6 passes lastnight and I bet if you go back and look at film, we only pressured him 6 times.

I wondered the same thing myself as did all the other people around me. How do you get called for too many men on defense before the ball is snapped? Also a lot of fuss was made over the ref standing over the ball and not setting it quickly and getting out of the way on our first few drives when we were going no huddle. Really killed the momentum.

The officiating was ridiculous.

The only one that really got me was the obvious inadvertent whistle that caused a false start penalty.

The flag on the hit from Bonner, in real time, I thought was a little overkill... but upon further review, Bonner's got to hold up there. I don't have a problem with that call.

QBs: i think Mullen has trained Relf to make his reads and take the first opening that is there, a few yards at a time, and he doesn't think he can tell him to play different in the 4th Q when we're down. after all, he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

O-Line: Clausel got a close-up slo-mo on a sack he gave up: he stood up, gave one chest-press push to his man, and stood there and watched him circle him and get to the QB. no feet movement at all, no effort.

Skill guys: no one got the ball in open space, and that's on the coaches. i thought the whole point of the spread was that you didn't have to dominate the line?

Defense: Broomfield needs some better coaching on technique. He's not playing his man at the right angle, at least the few times the camera was on him. Tackling technique was PISS POOR on occaision. In the 1st Q, Bonner came up to the hole to meet the LSU bruiser RB, and just closed his eyes and ducked his head and dove, whiffing of course. Maye did the same thing later and nearly became the new Chuckie Mullins.

Special teams: Jameon looked terrific on kick returns. after nearly breaking the first two, LSU was afraid to kick it to him the rest of the night. and it didn't appear we took advantage of that either.

Coaching: enough said

Officiating: the SEC needs to answer for that inadvertant whistle that they penalized US for. otherwise, not so bad against us. Camdidn't get called for PI in the 1st, so that evens out. the Bonner hit was clearly unnecessary. he did the exact same thing that LSU got flagged for on the late hit to the QB.
