Is Ray being a complete hardass with these guys or have they just never had to work before in their lives?

It sounds like these workouts are making these whiny bitches quit. Did we seriously do that little under Stans? I knew we looked lazy and out of shape, but was it really that bad.
If we are going to be perpetually disappointing and undisciplined or have a bunch of D2 players that get after it for 40 minutes, I choose the latter. This truly is a show of just how bad Stans let it get. I mean it looks as if the players just did whatever in the hell they wanted.

They play 7 people, with sometimes an 8th guy giving a couple minutes. Stans always played 8-9 players. We had the team capable of using the 7 man formula, but our program did not have the players in enough shape to go hard for 40 minutes.

I hope you were being sarcastic because that was one of the dumbest fu%king things I've read on here in the past 10 years considering Coach Ray hasn't even been our coach for 2 full weeks. Kind of hard to have been given a chance to show anyone what he can do in only 2ish weeks of offseason when you can't even practice...

I haven't seen an MSU basketball team bust their *** and play hard for a coach in years, so take that **** somewhere else.

From what i was told, he's already busting their @sses over class. They were let known in a impressive manner that they were expected to perform in the classroom as well. Whether that entailed attendance checks etc i don't know, but supposedly Steele was taking that harder than the workouts.

I never had a class with a basketball player except a few walkons, but I never once saw a basketball coach check attendance. I was an undergrad during Mullen's first year (and Cohen's, for that matter) and coaches were there every day to check attendance. I bet our football and baseball players don't listen to them ***** about class.

all of this goes to show just haw rampant the undisciplined nature of the program was. Earlier I was in the camp that maybe Scott made some mistakes with hire and not getting a big-time recruiter, but after seeing all this I at least appreciate what he tried to do with the hire. What a freakin train wreck the program was on the inside.

...and hopefully in with the good at some point. Makes you wonder about the players we have committed for this signing class as well though. Maybe they will make it since they will actually have to work from day 1. A lot harder to teach an old dog new tricks.</p>

and that is seemingly who everyone wanted us to hire at least at the end. Ray at least was an associate HC at an ACC school, a no-name might be a little harsh.

I took Intro to PSY with Windell Lewis and Nick Griffin last year. Windell always came in late, was shy when asked questions, and didn't seem too bright. Nick was always there on time(at least after he tore up his knee, that's when I noticed he was in the class) never complained and seemed at least slightly intelligent. Two different coaches two differentattitudes. Point is Windell isn't smart and may have given up on school until Ray tried to make him care.<div>
</div><div>PS. My roommate took History with Raybern Johnson and said he never came to class until after he got suspended. Even then he wasn't there all the time.</div>

and you came back with "what are you, 7?"? Maybe you should just go back to posting AoTD pics for us again.

Our teams haven't played hard in years. Individual players have at times, but not the team. How about you just get on board with where we are and give our new coach a chance to actually show us whether he was a good hire or not, instead of bitching about a coach that hasn't even been on the job long enough to take a solid dump, let alone conduct a practice, sign a player or win ballgames.

We havent played hard as a team in years. And individual players who play hard every time on the floor on both ends are few and far between on our team.

and totally diaagree. Look at the # of minutes played by the 'best' State players ... compare them to the other SEC teams.Think you will find that Bost, Hood and Moultrie were in the 'top 10' in minutes played per game. ONLY player that did not play any minutes due to conditioning was Sid ...period.Others did not play as much 'cause they were not as good; had zero to do with conditioning.

I had a couple of classes with basketball players back in '07 and '08 and they routinely did not come. One even left in the middle of class one time, and the teacher called him out in front of 100+ people and said she was going to report him to the coaches.

and your still upset about him leaving the program, well then you just either A> know NOTHING about basketball or B> you have a man crush on the dude because he absolutley might as well have not even entered The Hump that night because he gave ZERO effort and looked like he had rather be back in Selma or whatever small town in alabama he came from!
<17> him!! I hope he has already packed his <17ing> bags and left SVegas!

If Sidney was in shape and we used Bryant more effectively in our lineup, then we wouldn't have had to demand so many minutes out of Hood and Moultrie.
