Not sure we deserve it, but here's last week's AP poll:
1486 1 Alabama (48)
1414 2 USC (8) -- Lost, but will stay in top 10
1404 3 LSU (4)
1299 4 Oregon
1160 5 Oklahoma
1160 5 Florida State
1155 7 Georgia
1025 8 South Carolina
1017 9 West Virginia
995 10 Michigan State -- Losing to ND won't hurt too much
868 11 Clemson
772 12 Ohio State
734 13 Virginia Tech -- Lost to Pitt, will probably fall out
716 14 Texas
714 15 Kansas State
542 16 TCU
429 17 Michigan
427 18 Florida
316 19 Louisville
310 20 Notre Dame
260 21 Stanford
250 22 UCLA
177 23 Tennessee -- Lost to Florida, will probably fall out
149 24 Arizona
110 25 Brigham Young -- Lost to Utah will probably fall out
106 NR Boise State
79 NR Arkansas -- Unlikely to get a single vote
79 NR Nebraska
77 NR Oregon State
70 NR Mississippi State
54 NR Baylor
We'll leapfrog 4 teams for sure, and I bet we get the nod over a 1-0 Oregon State team who has only beaten a bad Wisconsin team. I don't think they'd rank Baylor instead of us, but I guess it's possible
Coaches' Poll:
1455 1 Alabama (42)
1380 2 LSU (5)
1363 3 USC (11) -- Lost, but will stay in top 10
1292 4 Oregon (1)
1203 5 Oklahoma
1153 6 Florida State
1120 7 Georgia
1024 8 West Virginia
1008 9 South Carolina
950 10 Michigan State -- Losing to ND won't hurt too much
904 11 Clemson
730 12 Texas
704 13 Virginia Tech -- Lost to Pitt, will probably fall out
696 14 Kansas State
649 15 TCU
455 16 Stanford
452 17 Florida
440 18 Michigan
398 19 Notre Dame
280 20 Louisville
246 21 Arkansas -- Unlikely to get a single vote
151 22 Wisconsin -- Will surely lose votes after only barely beating Utah State
147 23 UCLA
135 24 Nebraska
120 25 Arizona
104 NR Boise State
97 NR Oklahoma State
88 NR Mississippi State
71 NR Tennessee
70 NR BYU
58 NR Arizona State
Since Ohio State isn't eligible, there's one more spot to go around. It comes down to whether or not Wisconsin stays in after barely beating Northern Iowa and Utah State and losing to Oregon State. I think it's most likely that we're 25, especially with all 3 teams behind us losing.
Anyway, our performance last night doesn't deserve getting ranked, but I predict we are 25 in both polls.
