I think this is a good solid hire for West! He a solid coach ; he runs a tight ship and he has won in 4A level or 6A/7A level now and He will be a good one if he stays at West!
His recruiting budget will be much less at West than what is was at Hough.
He was like 1-90 at Hopewell, then he moved to Hough. Apartments, Dorms, Pool Houses, Student Housing department.

Question. What is the hype about Hough? serious question. Those that fake go there have to drive all the way up I-77 daily. Numerous stories about parents having a bad experience there. He should have had a decent year next year but the transfer portal took his QB and a couple others. Funny one of the dads was very vocal about the transfer portal last year but has to buy a new school’s gear to wear on Friday nights this year!
When the players end up in an apartment by the lake, they don't have to worry about driving on I-77. Hough has had a ton of guys sign D1 offers, which helps them bring in the next crop of players. It's easy to see which position groups at Hough end up getting the most transfers in. From there, you can identify one of the major sources of the recruiting. I would argue that most of the players, if not all the players would have gotten D1 offers no matter which school they went to.
Championships are definitely not what is drawing players to Hough. It must be the apartment complex on the lake, the belief that they will get more D1 offers, and getting coached every day for free by the guys that "trained" them when they were at their previous school.
