Warrior D tough against th run...Bears struggled all night trying to establish run game....Warriors better up front than I thought.....good team speed...Bears hung around but FG with 2:00 left ended any hope.....1st loss to a YVC team other than Albemarle in Bears history....return a lot next year....good luck to WM in title game GO Bears!

Class team. Hell of a defense. Every time MA had a chance to pull even, WM slammed the door.
I was on the WM side of the field and their fans know a lot about football, at least where I was standing. Good luck in the finals next week.

Congrats to both WM and MA for a tough, hard fought and well coached game. West Montgomery advances to third state championship game for in past 10 seasons (2007, 2013 and now 2016), hopefully third time is the charm. WM also played in state finals in 2-A class in 1975. Both lines played well, however as Bareman points out the WM D-line shut down the MA run game. #8 got loose only one time. There was no running up the middle at all. On the outside there were great one on one battles all game long between #3 for WM vs. #21 for MA. It was man-to-man all night between two good athletes and fun to watch. Both of those guys had their moments. # 9 for West has had to play a lot of defense these past few weeks and he is showing great value. At 1-A level you got to have these guys on the field as much as possible. When #9 got injured late 3rd quarter and had to come out for one play, Coach Holder went to the bomb for MA's final TD, great play call and recognition that #9 was on the sideline. Both teams are class programs and the respect shown after the game from both sides is the way it should be.
Would you believe 21 (Donavon Greene) is just a sophomore? He was out with an injury when MA lost their only other game of the season, and I suspect one reason why is because they didn't want to adjust their defense with him not being available. He's a big part of that team.
As soon as Leake went out, I knew what was coming next. I actually said, "here comes a touchdown for Donavon," and sure enough, that's what happened. He was the one guy on MA's offense that was giving you trouble, and Leake was at least able to fight him to a draw even though he was giving up several inches.
WM had, by far, the best defense I've seen played against MA this year. Good luck against Wallace next week. It's about time someone took them down. I have a few friends down there from my days working in Duplin County, but they've got enough of these trophies.
Supposedly in 4 years. I've also heard talk of WM then becoming a charter. Going to be interesting to see.

That was a great write up and some really good photos. I miss the JW Houston days down in MOCO. There would be a pre State Championship section rivaling the NCHSAA program lol!

Some of you seem to be in denial. When that happens, you need the truth. So here it is.
1. You can keep denying that you are not some old sports writer, but when you keep bringing up how great things used to be, you are as transparent as a glass house. You get passed by when you keep living in the past and that's the truth.
2. I keep hearing about a new charter school in Montgomery County. If that is to be the case, you better start seeking investors now to build a very large building and some fields and such that are not currently available in Montgomery County. You like to bet, so I will make a bet. You put $50,000 investment on the charter school and I will put $50,000 into a bulldozer company. After tens of million are spent on a new high school, no way the schools or county will sell either of those buildings to a charter school. My bulldozer company will have plenty of business before that happens and I'll make a fortune. I figure you will need $20,000,000 or so for your new school, so you better get started. And that's the truth.
3. You keep talking about having a certain coach for your charter school. Yet, that coach's name keeps popping up for bugger jobs all over the place. They seems to be a bigger job on the horizon. Has anybody asked if he might want that bigger job when it happens? Yes, this thread was about an outstanding football game davisdorm. It was a great thread. And just like all threads, someone (usually a group of 2 people) try to turn it into a discussion about an old sports writer or something else negative about a certain thing that is going to happen because they don't like it. I for one am tired of it. I read these boards for a long time and their song and dance is getting old and that's the truth. WarriorPride, please do not tell me to keep it on football when you sit by and say nothing when these people I'm talking about do not keep it on football. When they stray off the topic of football, I will be there with the truth.
FBTruth.... A respected Mt. Airy fan asked about the consolidation. An answer was given. The side of the river that is begging for the consolidation isn't on the West side. There a supporters, but to have a bill put on the county taxpayers that high with no vote simply to make a name for yourself isn't being taken very well. You may very well be right in that the school will be built. But you are wrong my buzzard fan on the entirety of the rest of your comments. That's all I am going to say about that. If you wish to start a "factual" thread and explain to everyone why what me and quite a few other posters are saying is so wrong feel free to do so. Your first two posts have come out as angry like a little kid who lost his balloon. I know it's tough being on that side of the county and having had to live under the cloud of West Montgomery's successes. It's ok, you always have soccer and women's tennis.
Sorry to the Mt. Airy fans but that and Mr. 46's comments, before he deleted them, are just a few of the many reasons why West Montgomery has a very large contingent working together to keep the consolidation from happening and if that's not probable then providing other options for the students and families that don't want to deal with the drama and BS that comes repeatedly from over there.

If you want to talk politics. Then please by all means start another thread. And as for me sitting by etc. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm pretty civil on these boards. I like to hear what other people think etc.......
