Brown needs some tough Fvking questions
1) Why not run it at the end of the first half when it's 1st and goal from the two?
2) What did GG do exactly to deserve getting shelved the second half?
3) At what point did it occur to you that you were literally giving the game away? Did it not happen until VT's last drive or was it earlier?
4) How much of the responsibility is yours personally for turning a rout into a game we should have lost? I'd say 90%, but please don't let me bias you.

WVU never trailed. Beat #15 Virginia Tech. Best upset of Hokies since My Mona Lisa and I watched it happen in 2003 to #3 VT. Enjoy the victory. Not a time for nitpicking or second-guessing. It demeans those who do. Just enjoy the amazing performance by WVU!

I love WVU football and everyone I know who is unhappy with Brown loves WVU football. I think he's losing the die hards. Not like I wont keep supporting the team, but as far as Neal Brown goes, the sooner we replace him the better.
Every head coach WVU has had since Bowden the fans have wanted replaced.

I agree with that, but also basically running the same play over and over for the most part didnt help, especially when the OL isnt very good. VT didnt have to guess in the second half. All they had to do was beat our OL and they did, and held us to 3 points in the half compared to 24 in the first. This isnt the 80's. Teams come back fast in the days of spread and/or up-tempo offenses, not too mention the newer rules that favor offenses. You cant "protect a lead" like that unless your OL is dominant. Neal sucks.
Nope it's not 1980's which why you actually have to play defense. Brown played to the strength of the team and that was the defense. If club feet doesn't fumble at the 50 Then WVU actually finish that drive with 3 or getting field advantage. Instead that turnover flipped the field causing things to get dicey.

Ask for his firing all you want it ain't happening. I guess you should take a break and come back in a couple of years.

Except Rich Rod. Holgs had the fan base for a while though. He just couldnt get us over the hump and never did groom a QB recruit of his own. Personally, I think I would take either Holgs or Rich over Brown. I hope he proves me wrong but I just dont see his style working unless we have an OL loaded with NFL talent. But maybe Im wrong. If he finds the right QB/RB combo, you never know.

The only good part is that hopefully it keeps everyone humble and hungry going into OU. The biggest problem is that our coach put us into that spot today and he'll not learn a damn thing from this.

All I read about was the praise for Doege for his offseason preparation and improvement on decision making. But when the lights are on, it's a lot different than practice. I'm not putting the guy down, he's probably a good person as far as I know, but good people don't always make good decisions when the pressure is on. Pressure is what defines you. And it has defined Doege a lot. Time for the QB change. Who cares if. Green's ready or not. Need to look towards 2022 season anyways.
I commend Doege for working hard in the offseason, but it's not showing in the games. Greene energizes the offense. Is Doege a better passer? That's debatable. Better decision maker? Again, debatable.

Greene handled the muffed snap well and if Brown's definition of decision making is Greene being too quick to run...and gain 8 yards, I might add, then he can **** off down to South Carolina (or wherever he flirted last year).

Is Greene a bigger threat with his legs? No question.

The way I look at it, based on this criteria, two are a wash and the other undoubtably is in Greene's favor. Why keep him on the bench? It feels like petty high school **** where the coach plays a friend's kid or his on own over the better player and the wins be damned.

Wrong. Fans were hating on Rod for his first 3 years and wanting him gone.

He needs a road grating OL and Rocco needs to be the real deal. Only then does he get 10 wins. The irony? About 80% of CFB coaches could say the exact same thing.

Only mistake Brown made was leaving Doege in the game.
Disagree HCNB made mistake after mistake in the 4th Q. Someone said it best he plays not to loose. 3 straight possessions without a first down when a few first downs put the game away.

Ok. So what? Personally I would rather have someone better than all 3 of them, but for the Rich and Holgs lovers, whatever. They are allowed to have their opinion. Does it bother you?

The first of the 3 you speak about they had first downs. Then Doege fumbles at the 50 When WVU is driving the ball. This flipped the field.

No one should be happy with Brown right now. He refused to give us a chance in the Maryland game by pulling a completely shot Doege.
Then he takes an amazing first half by our kids today and wipes his *** with it. Our defense repeatedly saved his bacon.

Doesn't bother me. I only like wins. Opinions are opinions. Not my job to hire and fire coaches.

allen is the only true WVU fan. His multiple, broken, tax return funded TV sets can attest to his passion. And the four petty misdemeanor arrests at the Weston Hot Spot for assaulting random patrons who uttered, "man, 'WVU HC' is a moron."

I'm happy with him and hope he stays 20 years. Probably not gonna happen cause after 5 years he is either winning and leaves or he's losing and is fired. So people might as well sit back and wait.

We won the game and are 2-1. So much better than 1-2 staring down the barrel of 1-3.

You want to hate Brown go ahead. I'm cheering for my team and if that ******* pisses everyone off so be it.

When he was making the transition, a lot of fans that lack understanding of offensive and defensive systems and play calling were calling for his head. But those of us who played football most of our lives understood that transitioning from what Nehlen ran to what Rich was going to run would take a while because of how completely different systems they are and require completely different players. I never got off the Rich bandwagon until he left on his own accord.

Holgs had a little transitioning from RR's system to the air raid, but not nearly as extreme as what RR had to do. Plus you had Mullen and Stewart in between.

Neal is an air raid HC/OC taking over an air raid team. There really is no major difference. Neal is way more conservative than Holgs was for sure. That almost bit us in the *** today. Our defense did a great job.

Make up some more lies. If it makes you feel better. Whatever eases your pain of a WVU victory over #15 Hokies.

I can't believe all the negativity after upsetting #15 team in the country and never trailing in the game. This speaks poorly of those who look for reasons to attack Neal Brown. It was a magnificient victory. Savor it! And book for it to happen again against Oklahoma! Such whiny nitpickers!

You are failing to realize that its possible to have both of those happen at the same time. Im over Brown, but love WVU and the players and will keep cheering for them until Brown either improves or is gone. The way it looks now, he wont be here another 2 years.

1) I didn't like that either.
2) Should earn more play time in my opinion
3) Don't know about Brown but I believe it was the Doege fumble at the 50 yard line in 4th quarter. This completely flipped the field. After the INT on a screen pass that was covered I seriously thought we lost.
4) I say 50%

It's not so much negativity as it is being realistic. WVU won. That's great. There's no game I'd rather win than against vpi. I hate that school and state.

Despite the win, there were MASSIVE blunders that nearly gave WVU one of the worst gut-punch loses at Mountaineer Field in its history. To ignore every problem simply because you lucked out with a win is whistling past the graveyard. There is no way that you're too dense to understand that...or you're just being intellectual dishonest.

Yes he will. Nobody is paying his 20 million dollar buyout. AD screwed the pooch on on the extension after 2 years. We are with him for 5 years.

There is a difference between "hating" on someone and critiquing their mistakes. The plays that were called at the end of the first half for example were indefensible. It took what should have been a momentous 28-7 score going into VTs last possession or a 24-7 score without VT getting another possession to a 24-7 disappointment that WVU is lucky to not have given up any points on. VT did not play exceptionally well to claw their way back into a game they were 3 scores down in. WVU helped by making mistakes and playing overly conservative.

First, if West Virginia decides to fire Brown for reasons other than violations of NCAA rules or inappropriate conduct, it will be on the hook for all or most of the remaining value of the contract, which runs through Dec, 31, 2026.

If he is let go before Dec, 31, 2024, WVU would owe him 100% of the remaining value of the contract, while a termination between Jan 1, 2025 and Dec. 31, 2026 would net Brown 85% of the total remaining contract amount.

For example, if Brown were let go following the 2023 season, he would still be due $12.7 million (the amount of his contract for 2024-26). Were he to be terminated on Jan. 10, 2025, he would receive $7,310,000 (85% of the remaining two years of the contract).

On the flip side, if Brown elects to leave on or before Dec. 31, 2024, he would owe WVU a liquidated damages payment equal to 25% of the remaining total salary figure.

A departure in the final two years of the contract (Jan. 1, 2025 – Dec. 31, 2026) would see him owing 12.5% of the total.

Again, for example, if he were to leave following the 2023 season, he would owe West Virginia $3.175 million, which is 25% of the remaining three years of the contract.

If the departure came on Jan. 10, 2025, he would owe $1.075 million to the school.
There’s also an interesting codicil to all of this. Brown’s buyout liability drops to 12.5% from now through the end of 2024 (from the base contract number of 25%) if both WVU President E. Gordon Gee and Director of Athletics Shane Lyons are not in their current positions at the time Brown elects to leave.

That’s another tick in Brown’s favor, as it would make it more viable for him to depart if both of the people who were instrumental in his hiring are no longer around.

He'll need Top 15 recruiting classes to make it to the end of this contract. He will need superior talent to overcome his play calling and lack of killer instinct.

I dont think its even about "liking" Neal Brown. I really like Neal Brown and think he's a fantastic person and I think most people feel that way. Very nice man, and I've actually spoken to him in person 3 times and can vouch that he is a superb human being. But it doesnt change the fact that he hasnt shown enough to make many people believe he can coach in a P5 level conference. As nice and cool as he is, this is not about him, its about WVU football.

Good point. Tech fans are doing some second-guessing right now, but it's pretty obvious that Doege folds under pressure.
Agree. His decision making is awful and when he does decide on something it's too late. Greene may not be any better at decision making or throwing but he makes the defense have to account for another player.

They aren't a wash. Greene has yet to get a full understanding of the offense. This isn't my opinion....it comes directly from a WVU coach...

Take from that what you will.

Virginia Tech was outcoached when Greene was in the game. How do you not know when he is in that he is going to run it.

Don Nehlen use to say they might know the play but if offense executes the said play they can't stop it.
