Cost affects supply and demand which dictates market partially.
Partially - but the big problem is oversupply, so lessening the cost isn't gonna help any.

I don't disagree that the market has had a huge impact on coal but I also believe that the EPA has contributed as well.

Baseless claims as usual, it's like the sun coming up.

And you do realize the religious right are Republicans and they don't believe in exercise and eating healthy, they deny science and don't want the feds telling them what education standards the state should live up to, right?
You making the leap from those stats to your accusation is a bunch of malarkey and shows everyone how stupid you are. Thanks for pointing that out, I was unaware of just how terrible Republicans are However I am aware that all those WVa problems are a direct result of failed and corrupt State Democrat leadership.

Ok Einstein, look up Mississippi stats and state politics and give the same comment.I know you may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer........but anyone with half a brain knows that 2 + 2= 4.
lol that's just fascinating bornlazy but what does that have to do with the WV Democrat leaders were getting their pockets stuffed for years and years that I asked you about which led to you posting WV trivia? Not one thing.

You know better than that. Who would have converted to NG if coal is equal in price? The coal fired plants just wanted to convert? Remember what Obama said plants could remain with coal, but they will go bankrupt. EPA was his hole card to make this come true.Partially - but the big problem is oversupply, so lessening the cost isn't gonna help any.
The new EPA emission standards didn't go into effect until 2014. Look at the graph above and tell me with a straight face that the EPA is to blame for the decline of coal. Furthermore, Clean Air Act Amendments went into effect in 1990 and the coal market went down after that but fully recovered. Anyone that believes the EPA is to blame is either uninformed or is genuinely trying to mislead people.
Ok Einstein, look up Mississippi stats and state politics and give the same comment.
Moron
You are the idiot making a correlation, not me.WOW........running neck and neck for last place with Mississippi is the BEST you can come up with.
You are the idiot making a correlation, not me.
Moron
Cause and effect is too complicated for your feeble mind. You have proven that and i don't waste time answering morons. I just point out their ridiculous comments and mock them. Consider yourself mocked by not just me but any level headed non-mouth breather.OK......who should be held accountable for WVa's problems? You don't think there is a correlation between years and decades of State Democrat leadership and poor dismal quality of life results? This should be interesting.

It is quite hilarious that you of all people can whine about not supplying facts. Look moron, one last time. It was you with a stupid correlation ; moe challenged you for facts and you doubled down with ******** ; I asked you to explain your ******** with the same crap with Mississippi but with your beloved political party and now you continue to whine about being done with me. You should be after this brow beating you have taken.Just about what I expected from you. No facts as usual.......so just resort to your usual insults. It's hilarious how and when you play the "cause and effect" game. I'm done with you.
It would be reasonable to expect Trump EPA to be business friendly. Yes.If it's Obama's EPA that's killing coal and Hillary's EPA will keep killing coal then I guess that means Trump's EPA will revive coal. Right?
And you do realize the religious right are Republicans and they don't believe in exercise and eating healthy, they deny science and don't want the feds telling them what education standards the state should live up to, right?
You mean to tell me my supplier of electricity was being dishonest when they added a surcharge to my monthly bills to cover a, non-existent increase in their cost . I do not believe the state regulators would have allowed them to pass that increase, that you say did not exist, on to the customers.Partially - but the big problem is oversupply, so lessening the cost isn't gonna help any.
The only changes in 2009 were the ones to the standards for SO2 emissions that were released in Nov 2009. I doubt that a regulation that impacted SO2 emissions at the end of the year was significantly responsible for the drop in production. If you plot the price of natural gas against that same timeline of coal production, you'll see a sharp drop in the price of natural gas occurring at the same time (2009). I think you could easily argue that cheap natural gas had at least as much impact on coal production as anything else. That's the free market at work. The graph shows a sharp decline starting in 2009. The plan to kill coal was designed to begin way before the full effect of the EPA emission standards in 2014. The EPA's regional haze rule, MATS rule & clean power plan all hurt coal some not going into full effect until 2014 but other hurtful policies which began at the beginning of Obamas tenure.
the only consistent thing in my life has been the lack of jobs in the mountain state..It's never ending..jobs, jobs, jobs...and every politician every year promises more jobs..I'd like one of them to just say the truth..we're fkd but I'll do the best I can.Supply and demand have put people out of their jobs.
This might be one of the most brainwashed, logically flawed posts I've ever seen on here. And that's saying something.I feel sorry for the people of southern WV. They're so stupid they can't help themselves. They've been duped into believing lies that corporate America feeds them. They aren't smart enough to figure out that the coal barons only care about money and don't give a damn about them and their safety. They are blaming Hillary (not smart enough to spell her name correctly) for the demise of coal when she isn't even in the White House or a member of congress. They aren't smart enough to figure out the abundance and low cost of natural gas has killed coal.
There was video on the local news of coal miners shaking Blankenship's hand and taking pictures with him like he was some god...while he was responsible for killing 29 of them.

The people choose the cheapest, always.
It is amazing that a vast number of people in our free country thinks government provides jobs. Yes, loosely stated, some jobs are created by government. But the payroll for government work is not perpetuated by the product that is produced by govenment. Only industry produces a product that can be consumed by paying customers that produces more payroll to produce a product of service and a system that perpetuates itself. Government could not survive without industry to pay the bills. Government would have to close without industry. Industry perpetuates itself in a cycle and can survive without government.the only consistent thing in my life has been the lack of jobs in the mountain state..It's never ending..jobs, jobs, jobs...and every politician every year promises more jobs..I'd like one of them to just say the truth..we're fkd but I'll do the best I can.

Of course the Coal Operatora wanted to make money, they wanted to maximize profits, and sadly, some make bad decisions and cut corners on safety. Do you realize how many people have been able to make a living, feeding their families, having taxable income, due to the coal business in this state?
Sure, the politicians didn't do the state any favors by failin to diversify. Sure, some coal Operators were **** heads. Sure, they ravage the beauty of the state during operations. They employed and provided which is a hell of lot more than our Gov't has done for them in the last 7.5 years.
While other factors have indeed contributed, the DNC's green movement has been a major driver as well. They are as complicit into the decline of coal, the forcing of 1000s of families into squalor, and now they try to act like the ends justify the means and even have the audacity to convolute the situation by somehow trying to blame he industry itself. All the while, it was their agenda which contributed to its demise.
You have outdone yourself in this one you fvcking drone.
How many of those out of work coal miners you think actually care about any of the issues that has been listed in this thread? Or perhaps do you think they would rather be employed?Logically flawed? Is Hillary currently in a position to pass legislation or requirements on coal? No. So to blame Hillary is asinine. You fit right in with the low information southern WVians, voting against their own interest and not even intelligent enough to figure it out.
So, we turn our backs on safety because an industry employs a lot people? That's what you are implying. I'm not sure why you are comparing coal companies to the government in terms of employment.
We have already clearly shown in this thread that the decline in WV coal production is not lining up with the timing of the implementation of changes in regulations.
Name calling? Please. Pffft. You're showing your stupidity.
A lot of people providing their expert opinions on coal mining and Southern WV even tho they have never been exposed to either. Cuntry is pathetic criticizing people who are making twice his level of income. Of course, their smarter than he is. Hillary attempting to dupe a poor coalminer who only makes $80,000 per year. He showed a family picture to explain why he liked his job so well. It provided good income for his family and would provide a way to give them what they needed to make a future. Not like the $250grand she makes for selling her speech and a bit of her country. How many of those out of work coal miners you think actually care about any of the issues that has been listed in this thread? What are you attempting to say? I am and idiot because coal miners make more money than you do? That doesn't even come close to making sense."Cuntry is pathetic criticizing people who are making twice his level of income." LOL. Thanks again for showing us what an idiot you are.
Actually was an oversupply. When world economy struggled, so did the China demand for coal. WV has a better quality of coal and can charge more per ton. Western coal is poorer quality and can be mined cheaper. WV demand decreased and Western increased. During better times, WV coal(better grade) will be in greater demand during better economic times. It burns hotter and cleaner.Partially - but the big problem is oversupply, so lessening the cost isn't gonna help any.
