East region is weak. Would have liked to be in that region

Illinois was/is my pick to win it all

Michigan was screwed. They threw all the long athletic teams with them.
WVU doing big things this year. Heard it here first.
Advancing further than Michigan

I don't think the Illini got any favors. I'm not sure I like their path much more easy than ours. 1st round, I'd definitely take their opponent. Not sure if Loyola Chicago/GT is all that much better than SDSU/Syracuse for a 2nd round. Then likely Okie State/Tennessee isn't any easier than Houston on our side if both teams make it that far. Not to downplay Houston or anyone else on WVU's side, but rather point out that I think we'd have nearly equal problems with either the 3rd seed slot or the 1st not counting the first round

Huggs and the guys need to take advantage of this opportunity. The bottom half of the bracket is there for the taking. Not easy but we rarely get a path to the elite eight and final 4 like this.

When you see a hard-nose guard most people will say that guy is a pitbull.

But sometimes a player takes that literally.

That is what you have with Jarreau and Houston...

Those guards punked Tx Tech
Last two times Houston wasn't an easy out. Similar to WVU.

Maybe Taz will showed out because Kelvin Sampson didn't pay attention to him.

It just dawned on me why the Illini are in our bracket. It was obvious why Syracuse is where they are as the NCAA always likes to provide article fodder side stories. Which is why WVU is usually with Kentucky when both are in the dance. Old BE rivals and top 5 winningest coaches going at it in the Syracuse game is one. And if both advance, coach Underwood and Huggins history of coaching together followed by an Underwood coached team later upsetting the Mountaineers with SFA is another.

I would be more worried about San Diego State or Syracuse.

SD St usually has some players...Boeheim is a Tournament coach. Guy may have ran someone over but doesn't take away from how good of a coach he is.

SFA was a special team that took the fight to WVU. They didn't back down at all and outworked that team.

Truthfully think this WVU team has more talent.

I don't disagree with any of what you say. I'm just saying you cannot take any team for granted.

WVU got a VERY friendly bracket to be in.

Morehead State, WVU’s first opponent in March Madness, is 56th.
Syracuse and San Diego State, with the winner of that game being WVU’s potential 2nd round opponent, are 41st and 24th, respectively.
Clemson, Rutgers, Houston and Cleveland State would be the 3rd game possibilities if WVU keeps winning.
Houston is 8th, Clemson 27th, Rutgers 40th, Cleveland State 60th.

WVU is the 2nd best team in the Big 12, according to the NCAA selection committee.
Huggins Heroes are the 10th seed. Only Baylor, the 2nd seed, is ranked higher.
Texas is 11th, Kansas 12th, Oklahoma State 15th, Texas Tech 22nd, Oklahoma 32nd.
The other Mountaineers – Appalachin State – are LAST at 68th. The other Mountaineers in it is Mount St. Mary's.

I'm thrilled with WVU's bracket 1st 2 games are more winnable than playing Big 12 teams.

The more I look at it the more I like it.but no team in the east concerns me. I don’t see us beating Illinois

Baylor beat Illinois 82-69 and the Bears had to go into OT to escape WVU.
Missouri beat Illinois, 81-78.
Rutgers beat Illinois, 91-88.
Maryland beat Illinois, 66-63.
Ohio State beat Illinois, 87-81.
Michigan State beat Illinois, 81-72.
What is there about Illinois that makes you poop in your Depends?

Illinois has bigs that would devour Culver.

This and they are tough

Like I said before, focus on the game in front of you. No sense looking 3-4 games down the road. Crazy things occur in the dance, and it's hard to tell how things will shake out, particularly with whom you ultimately end up having to play. As I wrote about Michigan's 2018 run, they ended up playing lower seeds than expected in every round except for the championship game.

the game with Missouri was a road game.
Illinois also beat Rutgers 90-68 @Rutgers
Illinois also beat Ohio State / 73-68 @Ohio State and 91-88 in B10 Tourney
Illinois also beat Michigan 76-53 @Michigan
Maryland is in NCAA Beat Rutgers and MSU
Michigan State also Beat Ohio State, Iowa & Michigan

Game comparisons don't mean ****.

What is it about game comparison that makes you think WVU is better than Illinois?

Illinois has two likely NBA draft picks in 7-foot monster Kofi Cockburn and Ayo Dosunmu. Add to them fabulous freshman guard Andre Curbelo, dead-eye sniper Da'Monte Williams, and super sub big man Giorgi Bezhanishvili, and I don't know how the Illini ever lose a game, but they do occasionally.

I think they start celebrating too early in games. They get nice leads, and then they lose them due to trying to get cute. I've seen it happen multiple times with them now.

I believe Illinois can win it all, but there's many others that could as well.

The thing to keep an eye out on, particularly the teams with big men, will be whether or not the officials allow them to play or not. Keep in mind, most teams were seeing the same officiating crews over and over again. You won't be getting that in the big dance. Guys like Cockburn and Garza get away with quite a bit in B1G action. If they happen to get an officiating crew calling the nickle and dime fouls, they could be in trouble. Same is true with Culver, Dickinson, and others, although I don't believe they get away with as much as Cockburn & Garza.

Both Illinois and Michigan have the luxury of good back-ups at center, though, so if Cockburn or Dickinson get into foul trouble, they should be okay, at least for short spurts. Culver's getting into foul trouble is a much bigger deal, as WVU has no other big that can score.

I'll worry about Illinois if WVU can first make it past Morehead State and then their 2nd round opponent then their sweet 16 opponent. If WVU or Illinois is still standing, then I can worry about them.

I have WVU beating San Diego St but losing to Houston. I think San Diego St has enough shooters to beat the Syracuse defense. Houston game is also winnable.
