Western Foothills 4A/5A - Week 1

Bandy's over Saint. To much offense against to little talent.
Trash hill over draughn. I'd like to be wrong on this pick. But paper bears will win this one.
Ponies over Vikings. Talent wins and size matters .
Mic over the wolves feeder program . Maybe tigers can win again in 4 years.
Hickory over point. Coin toss I think so playing the odds.
Trailersville over sad devils . This gonna start a mental test for NC and usually they fail these tests. A possible 1-5 start on season.
North over West. West may be preoccupied with other things and who knows if the will be missing a few online stars .
West over east. I think burke may of been to happy about new schedule but may result in same outcome for them . Hopefully they get coaches some bodyguards u never know about them kids there
Devils over their pet pups. Another size matters game . Don't think Lincolnton can measure up in the trenches. And they start slow over past few seasons

EL over SI - East Lincoln has a good QB their offense should be good this year some talent on that side of ball

South Point - South Point defense should be great will see when they face up with Hickory - Hickory lost some talented players but still should be really good I think it will come down to who has the ball last.

All day long, I'd bet visions of sugar plums have danced through your thoughts, counting on your new fullback to punch big holes in our front, causing us to stack the line which makes passing easier; and yes, it might happen, but if we could somehow manage to slip by you in this first game I honestly believe you'd have to go in for therapy. You know, the kind where some smug says "Now, repeat after me, I'm ok and you're ok."
Something else, that's about the ugliest devil image I've ever seen, and I rarely say ugly since I live in a glass house but it's cringeworthy, like the unexpected sight of a centipede... In the face and in physique it looks like my Daddy's baby sister did, she's a little taller, though....In spirit it's probably a lots more humble than she was.

Getting mighty strong winds with hard rain where I’m at. Bringing in a good cool front just in time for 1st night of football. High on Friday around piedmont area is around 80 and I see high 70 up in Boone. And low 60’s at night up there. Maybe cooler with upper 50’s in high tops. Going to feel
more like football weather with lower humidity.

This was a great game. Props to AMD who said earlier in the week that size would play into a Maiden win, and even though there are a number of things that affects the outcome, I agree that size and ball control were foremost. Have to say that the Wolves are a little bigger than I expected. The lead changed several times and we had our chances but the devils got the victory. I was proud of our guys and grateful for their efforts. Usually don't say this about us, but I feel pretty good about the season after tonight's game...Congrats to the Maiden posters and good luck.

Side Note: Heard Hickory lost. Hate it for my buddy cheerduck. Congratulations to the South Point guys, a great program; Also heard Shelby lost to Kings Mountain, and hate it for Shelby Lion and my other Shelby friends. It is so hard for me to fathom that Kings Mountain has over 1300 students, five hundred more than does Shelby. For the record, not trying to use this to explain away the Lions loss, tonight, which they would not want, at all, but in most cases a plus of five hundred students could make a considerable difference in athletic pools. Oh, and congratulations to Dplubo on East Lincoln's win over South Iredell. Makes me wonder if the big side of The Western Foothills Conference will come down to a grand finale between Hickory and East Lincoln. Definitely shaping up for an interesting year.

Saw where Newton Conover converted back to back onside kicks to turn the momentum around against Alexander Central. Congrats to the Red Devils on a big win.

It's a really weird dynamic between the two communities we are in separate counties but we're so closely intertwined that it's almost like it's a single community or a brother sister relationship. Most people in Maiden will go to the Lincolnton community when it comes to shopping or eating before they'll go to Newton or hickory. So in the end I really feel like it's just so many years of intertwined relationship that makes these two so similar.

But on another note some family advice . Y'all's new entrance really need some work it's not very good. Make the players run down a hill about a hundred yards before the game starts and then y'all do some little smoke bombs that look like y'all set off a pollen bomb in the trees

Seemed North Lincoln came out and played stellar, no mention of them on these boards or not much. I get they played West Lincoln so not sure how to gage the upcoming season on that game but WL aint bad and hasn't been for a while. Listened back at some commentary playback of the game and announcers still favoring them about middle of the pack.

That game was tied 14 all at half too. The knights ran off and left them in the 2nd half. They’re gonna be a handful…ain’t no doubt.

Y'all's coach is very good at scheming. Came up with those very smart corner blitzes to get Wingate from the back side. And with our quarterback being left-handed he couldn't see the blitzes to read them. So our coach adjusted in the second half moving our running back to the other side of the quarterback. So then our quarterback could see the blitz and read it. Couple times he still should have pulled the ball back and bootlegged. But all in all for a tough week 1 game I'm happy because I feel like we will just improve as a season goes on.

AMD, that image of the devil in post#59 forgot to dress. Guessing you made it with AI so it seems like you could have got him a shirt and pants. I'd suggest making him respectable, you know, like a working man, a blue collar guy which would go along with the schools colors, blue collar/blue devils, get it? How about a pair of navy work pants with a lighter blue short sleeve work shirt and an oval above the left pocket that says "Lou" (like lucifer). People might think he is a hard working mechanic.
