Back in the days when North Iredell had some good quality teams.
Do either of the city systems have a supplemental school tax? If so, if the systems merge by commissioner decision, they would be required to fund all county systems at the per pupil rate of the highest of the systems. Yeah, that’s what I was thinking, if anybody is touchy about it, it isn’t going to be the Maiden people. Don’t think they’ll do much talking, at al. They’re there strictly to “attend to business.”
OC, I’m thinking Newton-Conover does have a supplemental tax that is paid through property. Don’t think Hickory does, but they do pay a supplement. Not sure, my source was a friend who taught in Catawba County, but that has been some years ago.
During the Davidson County study, we found that the folks who understood the issue the least were the county commissioners. It’s much more complex than most people think. When our commissioners realized how much it would cost them, they quickly decided that three school systems in one county ain’t all that bad.
My friend's wife works for the city schools as a teacher at Newton Middle School and from my understanding they pay more than Catawba County schools do so that could be an issue also
There is reserve seating but there is also plenty of seating and good views that aren't reserved
Those commissioners need to talk with our five and fill them in on the total aspect of the funding we'll all lose versus the cost savings they have planned with consolidation.

There are three ways school systems can be merged. The state can force it. The local school board can give up its charter. Or the county commissioners can do it. The last is by far the most expensive of the three.
Guilford County projected savings from reduction of central office staff. They eventually went to a superintendent and four ”area superintendents”. So much for savings.
All you got to do is follow the model of WSFCS and you can have anything, as long as you don’t run out of checks.

It sounds like Bunker Hill is not playing North in JV tonight. Not enough kids, not sure if have a lot hurt or varsity players are hurt and had to move them up.
Final middle school standings for Catawba county.
Different era but one year I finished playing JV with 14 players all playing major minutes and winning (I think). We had a few kids move up, some injuries, and kids who quit/left the team.
The JV QB is starting on varsity because varsity QB quit
Take with a grain of salt because I heard this from a Bunker Hill kid at the gym. He said between injuries and conduct issues they had to move players up to varsity and felt like they didn't have enough for tonight's game don't know if it's going to continue into next week also but I would assume this late in the season it probably ain't getting better
No doubt numbers continue to decline and decline. Most local varsity teams don't have too many on the sidelines

Hence the reason why Newton and hickory should of made up their JV game
No excuses, but our starting QB went down early with a concussion and that linited the passing game. Our young men lost focus at that point and then we had a few questionable calls go against us. JV Football is a fragile group.
Fragile is the best word I've seen used yet.
