Schedule
Bandys at Hickory (Hickory has a good tune up before getting a bye next week in the 1st round. Can Bandys score enough to keep it close. Hickory had a extra week to rest up and get prepared.)

Bunker Hill at West Iredell ( West Iredell hasn't been able to close out the games against Newton and Bandys, they should be able to close this one out. Bunker has fell hard, not sure if they will have enough for a JV game again this week.)

East Lincoln bye (East should get a 1st round bye. They will have 2 weeks off but playing in the playoffs, not sure if that is good or bad)

Foard at North Lincoln (Battle for 7th place is on the line. This win could potentially help their playoff seeding. As of now, both are in the playoffs)

Maiden at Newton Conover (Pictures should be interesting this week. Battle for 3rd place and the best 4A team in the conference. The red devils have had a good year and seem to be back on the winning ways. @amaidendevil contributes that to Bazzle. Do they have enough to beat Maiden... Maiden coming off another tough lost where they look good in 1st half but absolutely fell apart in the 2nd half)


Lincolnton at West Lincoln (should be a good game with varying styles of offenses. Can Lincolnton rebound after a tough loss... Are they healthy coming off that bye week..)

Why would Maiden want to be a city school system. Already, even now, you have a school district to draw (football players) from that runs from Killians Crossroads near Lake Norman, to the city limits of Hickory.

It’s like North Lincoln’s school district which runs from the Lincolnton city limits, all the way to the shoreline of Lake Norman. In a straight line (not by the road) that’s between 15 and 20 miles. The Maiden and North Lincoln school districts are both slightly larger than the country of Kuwait, not both together, but either one.

You know, I admire Maiden, and their people for numerous things, especially for their love of high school football. I struggle with this, but I’m convinced if you would pin them down their first priority with school would be a safe environment where academics are stressed over sports; BUT, high school football would be ranked very high on the list.

Now, for the sake of thought, what if the legislative powers would decide that High school football is just too unsafe and must be banned in the public schools, including charter schools, but NOT private or church schools?

I for one DO NOT believe that Maiden would stand for it, and that they would resist. So, what would they do…Couldn’t imagine them going for an exclusive private school, so I’m going to guess, here. Knowing them, they would seek counsel from some of these Top ranked parochial schools up north and out in California whose teams are ranked among the best in America, and that is the direction they would go. I’m nearly sure of it.

I'm gonna go and say this and hopefully team backs this statement up Friday. The maiden defense in the first half of hickory and East Lincoln games looks like one of the beast in the state. This week against NC I'm gonna say they put together the full game on defense.

Maybe alittle catch up this week to avoid basement finish but most for our picks be the same. 2nd round for “Burkes get em’s” who might win that one. Grizz and AMD might be in the running so let’s get it. Just making it interesting.

Hickory over Bandys- no brainer. Love how this program is off to the races after being down and out since 98’ for the most part. I thought Andy’s would be a dark horse after giving KM a good game but KM not as strong as usual this year. They still tough but it won’t be enough.

west Iredell over Bunker- They’ll get another one to get alittle regained confidence for a season that’s been better than usual. Good for them

North Lincoln over Foard- Not a game North can let any kind of guard down. Big potential for Foard to take this but I’m gonna count on Agee to do his thing and do just enough to keep it close. May be another close one like BH game. Look for North to push back into respect zone next year as they did lose an army but they bring a ton back next year from this team. Just a Handful of seniors gone this year but don’t expect anything close to 2024 caliber.

Maiden over Newton- ok when did this rival begin? When Al Capone first rose to power? Maiden with a hard fought one but by 2 scores. Newton will come to play I can sense it.

Lincolnton for an easy down the street game. WL made this match up nice for a good bit but musta ran out of gas in the tallent tank like BH seem to do.

Be nice for Foards program but one and done will be the case if they do. If Agee can ground it out and defense can come alive North stands. Letting BH hang 38 on them is not receipe for success lol. Even last years defense struggled alot til playoffs. Blown away at how they held Ashbrook back. A team that might make Watauga alittle nervous even though if that matchup took place the Pioneers would take care of business but won’t be easy

Foard at North Lincoln: The knights try to salvage the regular season by making it two-in-a-row, but the Tigers have other plans. Staying at home, again, North by 6.

Bunker Hill at West Iredell: The Bears make the trek across the river hoping to end the season on a positive note, but that’s not likely…Warriors by 14.

Bandys at Hickory: The Trojans will make a good effort but might play a little cautious against a deeper and stronger foe, trying to stay healthy and get themselves ready for the 4A playoffs…Hickory by 16.

Lincolnton At West Lincoln: I typically make some wise guy, court square comments about West, mostly in the spirit of competition, but now, there are those on the coaching staff, faculty and athletics Dept. that I think a lot of and would not want to offend with trivial words, so I’ll hold off on that. Wolves by 13.

Maiden at Newton-Conover: Flyrod’s game of the week, and why not? The ancient rivalry continues. Look for the Red Devils to be ready. Nothing could be a better way for their season to end than with a victory over the little blue marble. Unfortunately, this blue marble is an 11 on the Mohs scale of hardness…Maiden by 18.

So I offically saw the Cheerduck. I didnt meet him but I saw em' LOL. Nice volleyball match, I hate that i can't make that final 4 game but wish them and my baby cousin thats playing, the best. Ya'll help us cheer on Draughn womens volleyball. This finish is as historic as the football team of 2022. Its bout the only thing they got going on cause for now it sure aint football. Not sure bout the other sports.

LOL, The Patriot, my friend, I’d better not call them “Village of the Damned.” Unlike us Lincolnton sorts, they get mad pretty easy, and I may be on thin ice with them anyway, over the St. Thomas Aquinas Brown remark…I think one of the breakdowns is that generally speaking, we have a different sense of humor.
My first cousin’s daughter has lived in Maiden, all her life. Once at a family reunion she commented “I’m so happy I didn’t grow up in Lincolnton, let me count the ways.” Actually, they’re ok to us, once we’re there, but I’m guessing that if they had their rathers, they’d rather we stayed at home. Consider this, here is a proposed sign for 321 South, the only way from here to there, I mean really ?

About the movies, I got my cinematic education at the Old Century Theater, when it was here. Remember seeing West Side Story. Rita Moreno was singing “America,” My aunt was sitting beside me, So I asked her “Where is Puerto Rico,” she said, “It’s below South Carolina, and I would appreciate your being quiet.” She knew things like that. She’d been to Kings Business College.”
