LOL, thank you, my friend, but in 1961 I was 10 years old. My predominant thoughts were who would win: Frankenstein Vs. the wolfman, Dracula vs. the wolfman, The Amazing colossal man vs. the wolfman, The wolves vs Shelby, was snow in the forecast(closing schools), and should I anticipate an ***-whipping by the principal when I went back to school on Monday.Sounds like we need to get @Lincolnton a bouquet of flowers and some chocolates and send him off courting.
You know, the odd thing about this all, this isn’t a boast, but I have really good insurance. They people I worked for were good to me,. When I retired they did me well, but at my age, the insurance people requires those in my age group to take a cognitive exam every two years. Last time, the examiner asked, what are you dominant thoughts, now? And these very same things came to mind, as when I was 10.

The Bears need this game against West Iredell desperately if they want to make the playoffs…hoping they just turn him loose and go for broke!

I was talking to 8th grade Maiden football player today at gym. Kid seems to wanna work on being good. I told him he got the lucky part God given size 6'3 around 300 pounds. I told him strength and fundamentals are something he can work to make great. But told him if he really wants to be great he's gotta look inside him and find that mean protective streak that's buried in there. And only he can find it and use it. Kinda channeled some Tom Brown. Told him to take every once of anger and aggression and let it out on the person across from you Friday nights. 
. Told him that QB is your momma and u don't let anyone hit your momma. And if the guy across from you does hit your momma, the very next play you better knock his f@#$&ing head off. So let's see if he can take that to heart

Well I will next time. I would have that night but I didnt put 2 and 2 together and didnt know for sure it was you til you said something on these boards. I saw ya I wondered bout the big Hickory High school "H" on your chest at a Draughn game with them not playing Hickory LOL. Dont worry, back in the day when I helped out with North Lincoln Id be with em' at a place were East Burke wasn't and wearing a East Burke shirt ha ha. Someone even said something bout it, alittle embarrassing but I laugh about it now.
Finally getting around to this:
All time record between the schools is 36-28-4 in Maiden's favor. The teams first played in 1925 (7-0 Newton win)(Also, Maiden's first football game ever). Maiden's first win against Newton didn't come until 1940.
Newton owned the series from it's inception until 1989 (a little over 60 years) and Maiden has been in control since 1990 (29-9 record over Newton).
This year's contest will be the 69th meeting between the schools.
Don't forget the 1988 Game at LRU. The fans from both schools packed out LR!! One of the significant games in the series NC won 28-20. Good stuff Grizzly Devil!!

Great info as usual from you Grizzly. The "modern day" N-C Maiden rivalry really began in 1973 when Newton became a member of the old SD-7. Prior to that, they hadn't played each other for many years. Starting in 1973, Newton dominated early. Through the first 17 games, Maiden was 4-12-1 against Newton. The tie occurred in Maiden's 2A state championship season of 1978. Maiden then went on a 16-2 run to go up 20-14-1 in the series. N-C then reeled off six straight wins to tie the modern day series at 20-20-1. Since that six game run by N-C Maiden has dominated, winning 13 of 14, and going up 33-21-1 in the modern day series. That record includes three playoff games. N-C has won two of the three playoff games. As you can tell, there have been some wild swings in this rivalry.
Friday night at Newton is B.Y.O.L. for anyone with no recent experience at their stadium . U wait in line about an hour to go through metal detector and then old security guy will wand u down and search all your personal items (pocket books) or fanny packs lol. Roger Martins, HHS Class of 1967, is the man that had researched every Catawba County High School football team's scores and records from their inception. May God rest his soul, I can't begin to imagine the hours he spent in accumalting and then documenting all of that information.

My friend, considering the locations of the high schools, J.M. Robinson is almost as close to East Lincoln, as is Newton-Conover... Being it's you, you probably already know it, Robinson is on the southwest side of Concord, a couple of miles from the Charlotte Motor Speedway, and a few miles more from Concord Mills, and too, East very well might be meeting up with them, or Northwest Cabarrus.
@amaidendevil hopefully the rules don't apply to you and we can get a good costume out of you for the end zone.
