Bandys at Kings Mountain: Heard that Bandys pushed us around in a pre-season scrimmage, and saw comments that they might be pretty good, this year. Guessing the tough Western Foothills Conference will strengthen them even more over the next four years. It looks like they aren't giving themselves any slack in non-conference, either, by scheduling a Cleveland County team, where they're all tough. Hope the Trojans can make a game out of it, and for those going down to cheer them on, Gamble Stadium is a great place to take in a game...Kings Mountain by 14.

Newton-Conover at East Lincoln: Don't know what to think about N-C, this year, is it possible they're are back. I think they might be. If the Red Devils would beat East Lincoln or even play them close, it's going to send out some major shockwaves. East Lincoln on the other hand has already beaten two teams that are both pretty good, racking up big numbers in each game. The green and orange look to be humming...East by 17.

West Iredell at Foard: Both are 2-0, but that must change come Friday. Have changed my mind a couple times on this one but I'll say Foard in a close one. FTF by 6.

Bunker Hill at Hickory: David and Goliath, I remember a song from a long time ago, and some of the lyrics went "If little David hadn't seen that stone lying there on the ground, big ole Goliath might have stomped on him instead of the other way around." In this game, David would need Chimney Rock to throw at him, Goliath wins this one. Hickory by 28.

North Lincoln at Maiden: If this isn't Flyrod's game of the week it ought to be. Both teams will come in P.O.'d. Frankly, I think the Blue Devils have too many good players for the Knights to overcome, but North plays well, together, as a team, and with their new coach they got from Maiden who must at sometime, this week, think to himself, "How good would it be if I could go back to where I came here from, and pin a loss right on their chest." I believe this will be a good game...Maiden by 8.

I’m taking Foard…y’all know West Iredell is the team that Foard started this win streak from last year. I’ll take the Tigers at home.

I think Bandys can give Kings Mtn all they want. I’ll take Kings Mtn at home in a thriller.

East Lincoln made me eat some crow…gosh!…their offense must be something else. I’ll take the Mustangs but I’m hoping the Red Devils give them a fit.

Hickory rolls again!

Lord…here we go again…Maiden has played 2 very exciting, enjoyable, edge of your seat games….gotta feeling we’re about to see another one! I know I’m a little different…but the Maiden game is the best ticket around…it can’t get no better. I’m not saying that because I’m a Maidenite….its true…I’m glued to every snap because you just don’t know what’s going to happen….good stuff…can’t wait!
I’ll take the Boom Devils in another epic ball game! Gotta say this blue devil bunch don’t quit…I think they still believed they would win after the failed 2 point conversion against ACR with 53 seconds left in the game. Dang!…they executed a perfect onside kick…took a huge sack…then proceeded to get to the 26 yard line with 17 seconds to go. They had a few shots at the end zone but didn’t get it done….you talk about exciting…the drama….it can’t no better. What a game!

Give me a team with heart and always believing…and I’m in!….all day!…every day! Boom Devils! Baby!

Kings Mtn just too athletic for a team like Bandys to handle but should be fun to watch and will be kinda close

Hickorys punter can stay home

An emotional one in this Maiden game. More so than the rest of em. Former Maiden coach vrs his former players and Wingate vrs the JVs of last year that looked up to him along with his partner in the backfield. I'm going with Maiden by 3 scores just to be real honest. I called em' close last year. Many of the games i said would go this way or that actually went that way or that. So accurate i scared myself ha ha. Maiden by 3 scores but hoping I'm wrong and suprised.

Absolutely no way Maiden wins this game by three scores, if at all. Maiden's offense is very good, but the defense leaves a lot to be desired. If NL wins time of possession playing their West Lincoln offense, this game will go right down to the wire. Maiden is used to that. This game is a toss-up.

OBM, I don’t know, North looked like a well coached team…Last week, they had five turnovers (3 fumbles and two interceptions). They’re more prone to fumbles because of an option offenses. They seemed to respond to their coach really well, and their quarterback D.Burns reminded me of a high school version of Mike McRee, in that he executes well, and has the head for it. Should they reduce mistakes, this will be a decent game. Might be worth your drive down to see it.

Easier said than done… very athletic Newton team this year with a stud qb that can do it all. A lot of pieces around him offensively that can score in a blink of the eye. They will probably be the fastest offense in the league (I hope). We will try, but I wouldn’t place any of your hard earned money on it.

Trust me it’s not like I WANT Maiden to win. This is a pick I want to be wrong about and wish yall are right in what your saying. I’m just calling the 3 score Maiden victory as a prediction but if it’s eat clock ball with Agee getting the yards and D holding up just enough with no turnovers I’ll say it might be 10 pts victory for Maiden at minimum. Those turnovers done it for North last year against good teams first of the season however when they DID eliminate those fumbles they made magic happen against Statesville- a more speedy athletic group of guys than them and Hickory. Smart ball and grit won them that Statesville game and kept it close with Hickory the 2nd time around. They have to do that again to make this a respectable game for sure.

I’m considering going down there to see this thing. North was turnover happy last year first 5 or 6 games of the season and seem to be on that track again if they committed those turnovers against a good Lincolnton team. I hadn’t seen a snap of them yet but on paper and comments on here they really seem to have it together with what is pretty much last years middle of the road tallent level JV team with just a handful of returns on top of preseason predictors not giving them a whole lot of credit. I’ve seen mass senior exits from teams before and how they look the next year and North seems to have rose above and beyond with theirs

I’m going to guess at what happened: Subject A, That’s what I’ll call him, subject A (sounds British, don’t you think) is a hard working man, with several jobs. Recently, he is out on one of those jobs when he gets behind another car being driven by subject B.
Subject A notices a bumper sticker on subject B’s rear bumper that reads “The real devils are in Newton-Conover, not Maiden, WERE BACK.”


When both subjects A and B stop for the light up on US 64&70, Subject A, being the sensible adult that he is, exits his vehicle and does a hammerfist on subject B’s hood and windshield. Subject A says this was done in the spirit of wholesome community competition…Subject B on the other hand calls it Road-rage.

I'm going to tell you a true story that is kind of funny that goes back a while. I was having one of my weekly conversations with Coach Brown. As we were talking there was a sports page on the table and if I remember correctly the article was about the Carolina Panthers and Cam Newton. I believe the headline was Newton Powers Panthers to another win. Coach Brown said there's arrogant people from Newton are so full of their selves I probably think this article is about them .

If you think about it, this conference has probably one of the youngest group of coaches around maybe in the state. Old lol is a perspective. But almost all the coaches are in their early forties. With the exception of Foards Michael ramseur who is around 51 and Joe glass at hickory who I think is mid-60's.
