I might be wrong but I’m thinking this game could turn out to be a surprise. EL is favored but anything can happen. I will say this is going to be a heck of a game
It will be. I can't see a sell out though. Crest and Hickory last year wasn't a sellout lol. Only sell outs I used to hear about maybe was West Charlotte and Indy back in the day. Used to hold that game at a concert stadium to accommodate the crowds.

Unfortunately, there is way too much other stuff for people to do on Fridays. Kids have practices, families are going on vacations... Big games still have decent crowds but it just isn't like it used to be.

Foard and Bunker have not played each other since ‘20…who knew? The last time Foard beat Bunker was ‘18…believe it or not…Foard finished 2nd in that I-40 conference behind Hibriten that year…eventually losing to West Stokes in a close game in the 1st round of the playoffs. A lot of football has passed since then, but, it does appear as Foard is slightly favored in this game with the Bears. Imma take the Tigers in a thriller. Can’t wait to see this result… this could be the game of the week!😉

I’m taking Hickory and the beast mode. If the Tornadoes can keep East Lincoln’s QB busy running for his life I think the Tornadoes can pull this one out. I will say…Hickory struggled against Maiden the 1st half against the pass…honestly looked as if they hadn’t seen a forward pass before!😂…but they settled down and put pressure on the QB which totally changed the game in my opinion. We’ll see. I’m sure there are some Blue Devils pulling for East Lincoln…hoping that a 3-way tie is still possible for Maiden. Heck!…I guess I’m one of ‘em too…but I’m still taking Hickory.

I’m taking Newton Conover over West Iredell. This is another candidate for game of the week. I see this one going to the wire…huge game!…can Newton overcome the injuries?…we’ll see.

Those daggum Wolves!…Burns didn’t believe it…Shelby didn’t either….i guarantee those boys from Cramer don’t either. I’m telling ya…Cramer matches up nicely with Lincolnton…this is going to be one heckuva game. I was very impressed with that goose egg the Storm hung on West Lincoln last week….do what? I’ll take Lincolnton in a closer game than most think.

Good luck y’all!

Not sure the record of wins and losses between Hickory n East Lincoln. But going back to ‘21 up until last season.
‘21 Hickory 22 East Lincoln 21
’22 East Lincoln 28 Hickory 12 That year East Lincoln won the 3A State Championship title
’23 Hickory 49 East Lincoln 28 That year Hickory won the 3A State Championship title
‘24 Hickory 42 East Lincoln 21 Hickory made it to the 3A Semis.
‘25 ? Going to be interesting

Foard at Bunker Hill: For the Bears things have been tough. I feel bad for them. I know they don't want my sympathy, but I know how it feels. Foard by 12.

Newton-Conover at West Iredell: This has the potential of a good game. Just don't know, but I'd heard the Red Devils could be minus a key player due to injury, so I'll take West Iredell by 10.

Maiden at Bandys: Two long respected rivals square off. If anyone wants to see what I'm guessing will be a great game, I'll quote the famous Mormon leader, Brigham Young, when he saw the Salt Lake Valley, from the Wasatch Mountains, he said, "This is the place." Blue Devils by 13.

Lincolnton at Stuart W. Cramer: Lincolnton has played the Storm 3 times, beginning in 2017 and ending in 2019, we lost each game by scores of 40-7, 44-6, and 10-7... I look forward to seeing us play them, once more. Maybe this time we can come through. I'm like Creek, though. They match us against us well. We have to play hard, again... For three quarters they stayed with Shelby and Burns before both appeared to wear them down, some. If they can do that against those two, they can do it against us, and I'm concerned that this might be the game in which they play an entire 4 quarters...I cautiously pick the Wolves by 10. Play hard !

Hickory at East Lincoln: Well, here it is, Flyrod's Game Of The Week, and it's a big one. The eyes of every good 5A team in the state will be turning towards eastern Lincoln County. I know they're both really good teams and are high scoring machines. Really don't know how this might come out. Going to take the Red Tornadoes by 7, for old times sake, for friends and family there, living and not.
Hats off to Coach Lubowicz and Coach Glass, for their success and leadership; two champions, as they have already proven.

-Postscript
: Tomorrow will be game 9 in the football season. How fast it goes by. It's as though you want to grab it and hold onto it, but it slips away. Well, let us look forward to the playoffs. Got a feeling this year’s matchups are going to be some grand finale.

-Side Note: friends, If you don't mind, I would like to comment on something I saw, yesterday, on the internet that kind of stunned me. It was an article about the migration of armadillos into North Carolina, and confirmed sightings in certain North Carolina counties. Would you like to know what one of those counties is ? Yes, it's Lincoln... How in the world did these things get here, to Lincolnton ? Is this not some wild, exotic creature. I'm thinking this is an anteater. To me that's as odd as a blue jay messing around in Qatar. Can you pet them or feed them ? Maybe they'll stay in the woods.

-Side Note: I took a photo of the site where the new Target store is going to be. It is scheduled to open sometime in 2026. If you tap the photo or use the fingers to widen it you can see the work going on. The photo was snapped from a hill that I was standing on, in the parking lot of another big store that I'm not going to say the name of, which you already know what it is. I know people there and not sure if they would appreciate my quips.

I saw that article as well... About a year ago I saw one dead on side of the road on East Dixon Blvd near the Cleveland Mall in Shelby... I couldnt believe it so I circled around and stopped and sure enough Armadillo.

I saw one in Bayou La Batre in Alabama when I was down there for a conference one year... Well I was supposed to be at a conference but I was riding around in Alabama and went to Bayou La Batre because Bubba was from there... HA HA.... Just like the time I was in Anaheim California for a conference and drove up to Compton just to be able to say I have been to Compton... Oh and Hollywood, and LA, and other places.. Hey I aint got no time to be sitting in some conference hall all day

Lincolnton I have always heard they carry Leprosy so I wouldnt be calling one like a cat trying to give it a snack to pet it if you run across one in your daily runs...

SL, I once pondered the same thought about Crenshaw. I had an early morning flight out of LAX and thought it would be cool if I went and got a picture (selfie) standing next to Crenshaw Blvd sign. I got there and straight chickened out. I could envision the news stating Virginia Man Shot for Wearing Wrong Colors While Taking a Picture. Story at 11.

I just looked at it this morning....I think this will be the 78th-ish time these teams have met since 1955. Maiden has won like 74% of the games. There are several ties. I do remember that Bandys only has 14 wins against Maiden.
Good info. I knew you guys had a decent lead in the series. Bandys has had some great teams but have had a lot more down years than Maiden. Also wasn’t sure how old the schools were. A quick Wikipedia search answered that question.
