What’s the opinion on Jans?

I don’t think he knows what he’s doing on offense, we’ve never looked good on that end. His defense seems to value doubling in the post and leaving guys wide open from 3 which is a disaster in this day and age. I also question his ability to scout talent. Then there are rumors that a lot of guys simply do not like playing for him. I think this is going downhill fast. He will get next year to fix it but if he doesn’t then what do we do? Our facilities are old and at the bottom of the league, our fan support is terrible and this is one of the few places in the country where baseball is prioritized over basketball. I don’t see much hope here at all.
His system is definitely not appealing to all players. He’s just got to find the ones that it is. His HS class last year and this year are looking better. If he can keep doing ithat and become much more efficient in the portal he’ll be ok in another year or two. I’d love for him to adjust his system even more than he has(offensively especially) (and he appears to be doing it defensively to some degree), but as long as he’s not reliant on the portal to build a team, only to supplement a piece or two, and hit on them like Epps, he can get this thing back in the rails. We gonna have to be patient. Ps I’d like to see him stay on tall and long at each position. PPs If he’s gonna portal shooters he’s got to figure a way to play them, ie Ali. Just my opinion.

Because of the transfer portal, Jans identity on defense has passed on by. He is now better suited for the SWAC. He’d probably enjoy coaching in that league anyway.

Over past 30 years (just cherry picking dates) we are under .500 in conference. Kinda are what we are.

It's a sport here to flex about disinterest in women's basketball, even a team that almost won it all.

So...not shocking that you weren't paying attention to how great a D coach he was and still is, as evidenced by whipping South Carolina yesterday.
I didn’t even know they played.

One of the problems with this year's team is that the best lineup offensively including Hubbard, Epps, and McGhee (6'2" and under) is not going to be able to stop bigger guards from penetrating into the paint and shooting over them. Ali seems soft and Achor is not an offensive threat at all. Maybe when the Euro comes back, he'll tweak the lineup.

Either way, NIT is the ceiling with this team.

Does he need to go too?
He is defiantly not trending in the right direction, and not sure he can pull the talent it takes to win consistently. Also believe that players who have options will not choose to play for a coach like him.

I’m with Richard Williams on this one. Look for Jan’s to make vast improvements with this team because he is a good coach.
