What’s the State sport you are the least emotional?

Men’s golf?

I mean… what are the parameters? NCAA sanctioned, SEC sponsored? I’m sure there are club sports and non-NCAA sports that aren’t even on my radar.

Let’s say of the big 3.

Basketball was so painful for so long that I kind of checked out from it. It’s gradually bringing me back, but I’m not sure if I trust her yet.

So right now basketball, by the end of this year it may be baseball

Ask me a few years ago I'd say basketball. Presently, I'd say football.
THIS! Baseball is the only sport we will ever be consistently relevant nationally. It doesn’t matter if the Big Ten doesn’t care, we care. It’s really a shame that more NIL isn’t applying to baseball instead of pissing it away trying to compete with Alabama in football. That’s a battle we will never win.

Any sport whose players are at MSU short term and strictly for the money. I would love to poll (if I could get honest answers) our NIL/portal players and ask them about their true emotions about playing for State. The truth is we have no emotional attachment to them and they have none for us.

Basketball - and I think it’s because I have the least knowledge of it out of the big three. I loved playing pickup bball as a kid, was my favorite sport to play. I watched more NBA growing up than MLB or NFL combined (80s/90s). But I never played past 7th grade and know nothing about strategy other than score more points. So if we suck, I can’t really tell you any reason why

I am STUNNED that you more involved in baseball than the others, baseball bruce
As you should be. 😉

But many answers here are more about the sports themselves in general and not the Mississippi State sports team. Which is what my answer was about.

I like both football and basketball as a sport and probably watch and follow more NFL and NBA than MLB over the past 10 years

Football for me. I believe it has been destroyed in the present state. Unless something is done in the near future 90% of the teams will become completely irrelevant.

Levels of Care-Dom of Mississippi State University’s Major Sports going from the sport I most care about to the least:

1. Baseball
2. Basketball

3. Football

It takes a game against Ole Miss for me to have at least a little interest.

Basketball, not because of MSU, I just can't stand the game itself. Football is closing fast now, although, it was by far my favorite before the portal and transfers for the past 50 years.

Football. We are so bad, I’ve pushed through disappointment/stress/anxiety to apathy.

Baseball has less upside and downside so probably that. I like it because we’ve historically been good, and the volume gives you something to do for a few months, but I’m way more emotional with football and basketball.

I think people undersell basketball as well. We’ve sucked postseason for a long time, but we’ve typically had pretty good teams with the exception of the Ray years. It’s been frustrating because we’ve underachieved several seasons, but we’ve usually been decent

Football —-and it’s not even close.

I used to have look forward to MSU football and had faith that we’d at least be competitive ,but it is totally gone.

And, honestly, I don’t think it’s ever coming back.
