High volume day drinking I’ll go with Miller Lite.
The Costco vodka and spirits have been popular . Costco has selected Deschutes to produce their Kirkland beer .Has anyone sampled Deschutes brewery out of Oregon ?

I guess it depends on what you consider cheap. I’ll get a 6 pack or sometimes a 12 for the weekend. Unless you go super high end, everything is within a few bucks. That being the case, Yuengling Golden Pilsner is my go to. You can go a little cheaper, but no reason.

I can’t lie, I love an occasional Rolling Rock.

the more I type, the more I think the cheap beers are just as expensive now as what used to be mid range.

Thanks for the informative share. I'll pick some up on my next visit.... I wonder if it pairs well with rotisserie chicken?

I've sampled a ton of Deschutes. Historically, one of the best breweries in oregon, which is saying a lot. The owners were super supportive of their brewers going off to do their own thing over the past 10 plus years and as a result they have lost a bit of their market share in oregon.
They aren't as sexy as they once were but still an outstanding brewery and the biggest producer in the state.

I always thought Miller Lite was a decent brew. But when I do drink nowadays I try to give my money to my local breweries.
You are an altruist like Babe Ruth.

A common quote attributed to Babe Ruth about beer is: "Sometimes when I reflect on all the beer I drink, I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered.".

As many of you probably know, I don’t drink beer (🤢). So, I cannot comment on my preference. Reflecting on my time at PSU, Milwaukee’s Best (aka, “Milwaukee’s Beast”) was the cheap beer of choice in East Halls. Cases of that crap were all over the dorms in those days. Cans looked like this back then:

That is what we were up against.

I guess there is still "cheap beer" but I haven't seen any I would want to drink. It seems that beer prices have tripled since Covid. 🤷‍♂️

Has there ever been another product whose name was a bigger lie?

Deschutes makes great beers. I'm a fan of Obsidian Stout, Black Butte Porter, Fresh Squeezed IPA, Mirror Pond Pale Ale to name a few. Their special anniversary Black Butte Porters and The Abyss are excellent.

Pliny the Younger and Topping Goliath Kentucky Bruch Stout. I used to like to pound Cantillon Blabaer but my standards improved.

I haven't had a drop of alcohol for more than five years now. I do, occasionally, partake of a NA beer and I must say, Genesee makes one of the best NA beers. I know...not Genny! Yep, Genny. I like it very cold.
I should try the local NA beer, thanks for the suggestion.

There really is no cheap beer that's drinkable that I see - other than maybe Pabst or Original Coors on sale in 30 packs. Yuengling used to be on sale (for years) in Publix for $19.95/case. Now it's on sale for $23.95/case.

I have a nice Viking tapster, so I buy 1/2 kegs of Yueng anyway, but at $155/keg + $25 CO2 every now and then, draft beer isn't the bargain it used to be. But the taste of draft beer is the reason for the tapster anyway. Not the cost.

+1. I would put Coors on the list as an ok cheap drinkable beer. I hate and have always hated Pabst.
Modelo and Sol (here in NM are decent) Shiner, from TX is also decent. Give me Rolling Rock circa 1980 and I'm good.
Beer prices have tripled since Covid.
