Geez this move to the Big 12 is a total trainwreck for NU.

1) Lost all State of Texas football recruiting

2) Lost the very popular and very highly nationally publicized rivalry with OKLAHOMA

3) Lost great rivalry with TEXAS and games in State of Texas that resulted in numerous very highly ranked recruits committing to NEBRASKA

4) State of Texas is currently the # 1 hottest recruiting area in the nation and NEBRASKA (because of its move to the Big 10) has lost virtually 100% of its State of Texas recruiting which is catastrophic for NU recruiting and
the effects of that are now being seen on the field

5) When a team like NEBRASKA (with all its rich history of National Championships and League titles) is now getting beat by stinking teams like PooPooPURDUE, ILLI-STINKING-NOIS, and a tiolet turddd team like MIAMI (who just lost 58-0 to an ACC team), then something is very smelly floating in the NEBRASKA turrddd bowl

6) How in Heavens name does a self-respecting NEBRASKA program find itself so low at skill levels and recruiting that it loses to a team in total disarray like MIAMI (who just fired its Coach because they are so pathetic after a 58-0 horrific laughingstock loss). And that hopeless, bottom of the barrel, azzzbite, team that lost 58-0 in its most recent laughingstock game, just beat NEBRASKA a few short weeks ago.

7) NEBRASKA in the Big 10 is hopelessly outmatched by the Top Big 10 teams and is now losing to the perennial Big 10 doormat, cellar dweller teams with no hope in sight due to the loss of State of Texas recruiting. In fact, teams like NORTHWESTERN have big advantages over NEBRASKA now, since NW recruits in a huge metropolitan area (Chicago) opposed to NEBRASKA's recruiting areas in the Big 10 consisting of a few farms in the Midwest now after they left the Big 12.

8) NEBRASKA losing to bottom feeders like NORTHWESTERN, ILLINOIS, and PURDUE is pathetic to say the least !! And then also losing to BYU (non BCS team), and MIAMI (total turrddd team that just lost 58-0 and fired their coach), should tell NU fans that something stinks in Lincoln and it is RECRUITING !!

9) With this type of recruiting going on now for NEBRASKA (total loss of State of Texas recruits) it is impossible to see any scenario whereby NEBRASKA will ever beat the Top teams (MICHIGAN, OHIO ST, WISCONSIN, MICH ST) in the Big 10 all in the same year. Never gonna happen without elite recruits. Simply impossible with no State of Texas recruiting.

10) Compared to a nationally televised, very popular, historic NEBRASKA-OKLAHOMA rivalry game and a NEBRASKA-TEXAS nationally popular rivalry game, and even a popular NEBRASKA-KANSAS ST rivalry game, who in the HELLLL wants to watch NEBRASKA-RUTGERS, or NEBRASKA-NORTHWORSTERN, or NEBRASKA-INDIANA, or NEBRASKA-POOPOOPURDUE ? answer - nobody !!

This yr in the Big 12 NEBRASKA could have been playing these nationally televised highly popular games that the entire nation would have been watching (instead of playing the games nobody gives two shiiiiettts about like PooPooPurdue, the Indiana Hooters, the Illionois fighting gooses, the Northwerstern Nobodies, and the Minnesota Moles - all games that nobody in the country gives two farrttts about and no recruits watch).

These are the games NEBRASKA could have been playing this yr in the Big 12 (while also enhancing their ability to recruit in the # 1 hottest High School recruiting area in the nation) -

1) NEBRASKA vs OKLAHOMA (nationally televised historic game)
2) NEBRASKA vs TCU (nationally televised game vs the undefeated # 3 team in nation)
3) NEBRASKA vs BAYLOR (nationally televised game vs the undefeated # 2 team in nation)
4) NEBRASKA vs TEXAS (nationally televised Big 12 rivalry)
5) NEBRASKA vs OKLAHOMA ST (nationally televised game vs the undefeated # 8 team in nation)
6) NEBRASKA vs KANSAS ST (traditional Big 12 rivalry game between neighboring State teams)
7) NEBRASKA vs IOWA ST (traditional Big 12 rivalry game between neighboring State teams)

Outside of isu who in this lineup do to think you would even be competitive against. Mind you can't stand the big 12 BB games played on grass but you guys would get clobbered against this group.

you lost to Iowa State and Texas Tech (at home IIRC) the year before you left the Big12... Nebraska isn't the Nebraska of the 90s... conference affiliation has nothing to do with it.

Good thing you 11th houred Missouri to get into the big10 at a reduced 'junior' status payout for several years. You still have options. You could go back to the B12 or PAC12 and possibly the MWC. Don't think the SEC or ACC would take you.

Is the Minnesota Moles gonna beat Nebraska too now ? Geezz this is ugly for Nebraska in the Big 10. Shoulda stayed in Big 12. This Big 10 thingie is making Nebraska a national laughingstock !!

Baylor has played no one period. 105th ranked schedule and now their QB is hurt. The Big 12 will be exposed when they play a team with anything the remotely resembles a defense. 70-53? Does anyone really think that is good football?

I am 51 years old and I've been a Sooner all my life. I remember the epic battles between Nebraska/OU during the 70's/80's. I came to Lincoln for OSU/Nebraska games as well. Something just felt right about Nebraska playing in the Big 8/12/10. I still watch your games when the Sooners aren't playing and root for you guys. Maybe I am nostalgic or just getting to damn old for my good, but you guys belong in the Big 12. Period. Yes, it is a pipe dream because $$$ runs everything these days and Texass will run things like they own the damn league. Believe me, I know the pain you are going through and I hate it for you guys. You are a Blue Blood of College Football and College Football is better when you are vying for Championships. I admit, I don't understand the Riley Hire but I know you will be back. When that day comes, I hope to God it is a Championship game between my Beloved Sooners and the Huskers...Like the Good old days. And we can tell Texas and the SEC to suck it.

I hated to see Nebraska leave the Big 12. The Nebraska/Oklahoma rivalry was monumental. Nothing stays the same, but when the Big12 broke up I think it ended tradition, period. How much money is enough? Or is it that is just has to be more?

How bout the History of the Nebraska football team. God, I hate seeing you guys lose to the likes of Purdue Boilermakers but for the sake of Nebraska football, quit living in the80's and 90's...This is 2015 and Nebraska Football looks nothing like the team of 25 years ago. God I would respect you if you were honest and said we got our tails kicked today rather then beating up your coach and team because they did not live up to the Nebraska of the very distant past. Wake up! Nebraska is mediocre at best currently, and will get better, but what your team did 20+ years ago has nothing to do with your current team, and will not make your team any better. I hate seeing the Huskers lose to the likes of Purdue, because that does nothing for the strength of the Western conference moving forward but please give it up about your past history being a reason as to why you got your butt beat by a team that you should not lose too....How about support your current team even if they don't met your past teams glory years!!!

What I have gathered from this boards meltdown:
The B1G sucks and is slow in comparison to the Big 12 and that is why Nebraska sucks. Makes sense

I haven't seen anyone mention what happened "25 years ago" today, nor compare this team to any of those teams.

Secondly, it wasn't 25 years ago. Nebraska played for a nattie in 2001. The last 3 MNC's all occurred within the past 21 years....not 25 years ago.

Third, people are not complaining about being mediocre. They are complaining about being 3-6, which is far below normal standards.

4th I wouldn't say Nebraska being successful was the "very distant past" considering the prior coach here won 9+ games every year the past 7 seasons. Not a lot of other teams around the country can make that claim.

QUOTE]

#1 Nebraska has never lived in Texas recruiting. Nebraska is still a national brand and can recruit anywhere.

#2 The rivalry with OU essentially ended when the teams changed from the Big 8 to the Big 12. It will always be considered a rivalry, but it really ended long before Nebraska split for the BIG.

#3 There was never a rivalry with Texas.

#4 South East region of the US is easily the best recruiting area in the country.

#5 Yeah Nebraska sucks this year...but still better than living under Texas' rule in the Big 12

The rest of your post you basically regurgitate the same **** you already posted.

And why did u fire him? Oh yeah because 9 wins a year just wasn't good enough at Nebraska. I guess those 9 wins are looking pretty good now. You all ran Solich out of town for the same reason. The reason other fans love this is partly your fan bases own doing. When you came to the B1G your fans made up "Future B1G Champions" shirts, because you all assumed it would be so easy for "vaunted" Nebraska to walk through a B1G schedule. As you have learned, thats not the case. It will be awhile before you guys can compete with the likes of OSU. You may never reach that level, its hard to do. We wish you luck and maybe, just maybe you all will realize 9 wins is pretty good.

Historically, how many big name players ever came from Big 10 territory (don't say New Jersey either cause Rutgers just came on board)?

Money buddy. Money. More in Big 10 by far.

4) NEBRASKA vs TEXAS (nationally televised Big 12 rivalry)
5) NEBRASKA vs OKLAHOMA ST (nationally televised game vs the undefeated # 8 team in nation)
6) NEBRASKA vs KANSAS ST (traditional Big 12 rivalry game between neighboring State teams)

What do you mean by big name players? Is this a joke? Look at the historical rosters of any of the Michigan, Ohio or Pennsylvania schools and it's littered with some great players. Charles Woodson, Eddie George, Orlando Pace, Cris Carter. The list goes on and on. Even Iowa has had guys like Bob Sanders (NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2007) from Pennsylvania, numerous high draft-pick linemen all from the B1G footprint.

The southern and western schools have a distinct advantage (and will continue to do so) when it comes to recruiting. Demographics are demographics. But to say there are no players in the conference footprint is silly.

I didn't fire anyone. Pelini was fired because he was a giant d-bag. Most probably weren't on board for Solich to be fired. Back in the day though, 9 wins was the standard-which ended on his watch. He had a year to replace his staff and turn the program around-which he might have done. The AD at the time was an egomaniac that thought he knew more than anyone and of course, like most AD's, he wanted his own guy--so out with Solich and in with Callahan.

As far as winning in the BIG...I have to admit it has been harder than I thought. I should have known. My momma always told me, "Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience". That is how I best can describe Nebraska in the BIG. All bets were off when Riley was hired anyway. I knew that was a terrible hire. Nebraska is undefeated right now and it is setting up to be a great showdown against Iowa for the west if Nebraska hired the guy they should have (Tom Herman).

So you're saying that because NU moved to the BIG you are now playing at a lower level because you've regressed to the B1G level of play? Now that is delusional. So its the conferences fault and not that Nebraska is just an average team that has a storied PAST. I have heard a lot of crazy ideas, but this takes the cake.

If Oklahoma hadn't poo-pooed the NU/OU series when the Big 12 was formed, maybe Nebraska would still be in the Big 12 today.

Yes, the BIG is mostly average. Why else do you think that the minute Urban showed up in Columbus he has had one long winning streak after another in conference. It is because for the first time in awhile, the conference actually had a big boy coach. Sparty was pretty good for a couple years-but they are regressing fast. Michigan will be the other big boy in a couple years under Harbaugh. Everyone is else is pretty average and Nebraska is terrible this year.

I don't think Nebraska is so bad that they lose to Iowa though.

Nebraska came into the BIG expecting to be a power, based on what they had accomplished last century I should think. They found out what the rest of the BIG knew, that Nebraska was an average team. The Big 12 is a track meet, if Nebraska wants to compete in the BIG, they had better realize that the track shoes don't win games in the BIG, you'd better buy some big boy pants and come ready to brawl every Saturday. Indiana is the closest thing to a Big 12 team in the BIG, and how is that working out for them? They can score, but they can't stop anyone and when they play a team that can play some D, they get their *** kicked. TCU, Baylor, when they play teams with defenses, I suspect the same to happen to them.

Believe me, I get it. Fans of the old Big 8 hated the strings and power that Texass brought with them. Everyone wanted a Big12 Network, the powers said NO and they took their idea and sold it to the Big 10. Why? Because of the stupid LHN. When they came about, You guys, Missouri, Colorado, A$M took off. Can't say I blame 'em either...this is one of many reasons why I hate Texass..

We have known that we are average since 2001. The thing is you could make the same argument if Iowa tried to go to the Big 12. They would score all over you and they could say, well in the Big 12, Iowa needed to know that their boring *** running attack wasn't going to work. Top teams will be top teams, and it doesn't matter what the conference is.

Sparty has been top 5 the past two seasons (beating Stanford in the Rose and Baylor in the Cotton) -- and is undefeated (8-0) this year. That's regressing fast?? Where is the regression?

Iowa's style might be boring, but they run for the most part, the same style as Alabama, but without all the blue chip athletes. I would put my money on Alabama to win a national title then any of the Big 12 teams. I would give Oklahoma an exception since they can at times play pretty good D. I would also agree with the OP's assertion that Nebraska lost it's pipeline with Texas by going to the BIG. Not completely, but enough. I am sure it was a great selling point to recruits since several of the Cornhusker games were either in Texas or Oklahoma. Besides, who wants to go deal with the snow and cold.

Sparty is not as good this year. They are undefeated because of a bad schedule and a fluke win over Michigan. The defense is not what it was the past few seasons nor is the run game. Right now Cook is hiding a lot of the warts. Next year he won't bet there.

The end of the Big 8 ended the OU vs. Nebraska game. I would suggest that played a bigger role in the State of the Program?

How would the Big 12 look today had Nebraska stayed? Would TCU still be in the MWC?

Colorado, Texas A&M and Missouri would still have been gone?

Here and Now ...

MSU is where they are because of a solid defense, Conner Cook and a relatively forgiving schedule. Take away either or all and they go away. But they have all going for them this year. That's how things go. To those teams that never seem that to get everything to fall in place, it just doesn't seem fair.

So take away their entire Defense, Starting QB, and schedule and they aren't as good of a football team. Sound logic. You really went out on a limb there.

I don't believe Michigan State or Ohio State are as good as last year.
Iowa is playing much better than last year. Michigan is as well.

OSU is #1, but they are not as consistent, as they were last year. Of course, they had some near misses, lost to VA Tech in 2014, but they don't have a good run defense stat, after first four games.

But, they are 4-0. They have some outstanding play-makers, but like everyone some injuries here and there.

I think the Big 8/12 is a natural fit for Nebraska.

No, Oklahoma specifically ended it. Nebraska wanted to create a permanent annual cross-division rivalry game with OU like what the SEC does, and the Big 12 was on board with it, but OU (who at the time was not a very good team) did not want to have to face Nebraska every year (who was very, very good at the time) because they already had to now face Texas every year (even though they had already been playing Texas every year anyway)
