the meaningless warm up elimination games are in December, the actual playoffs start in January, thats why they split them like that
Blue, I was just making an attempt at humor. In all seriousness, I wish like hell State had a warm up v Tulane with a date to the Sugar bowl on deck. That Sugar trip will be a fun trip for their fans.
If I were placing money on it, this is certainly the way to bet. However, my gut tells me they won't blow Tulane out and could well lose.
There is definitely a chance this could go very badly for Mississippi. I just think they have so much more talent than Tulane it would be really hard to 17 that game up.
The home teams all won last year and pretty decisively. I'd expect that trend to continue but OU better be careful (the team everyone talks about not belonging tends to play with a chip on their shoulder). It's set up perfectly for OM to reach the semis. Easy first round. Revenge game in the second. We all would hate to see it, but it's absolutely in play.
The OM situation is something you'd only wish on your worst enemy, and might be the worst ever. They may pull out of it with Golding, but probably won't. It'll be interesting to see what they lose to LSU in the portal in January (or whenever it is).

I think it hurts them to have to play Tulane first. It does give them an easy game to figure out how to handle the in game coaching without Kiffin, but it also gives UGA a game to scout and see what their weaknesses and tendencies are going to be with the new staff.
