I know there have been some additions but don't know exactly who they are. How should teams be ranked?

With only 11 teams are they allowing 8 into the playoffs or something like 6 with first round bys for the top two seeds? 8 out of 11 teams making the playoffs seems excessive. I think 4B has 17 teams...less than half making the playoffs.

4D has flip flopped on how many teams make the playoffs. For several years only 6 made it. Some posters act like you have an advantage because you played one less game. 14 instead of 15. (even though state teams usually win first round games by 28+). In 2018 and 2019 they took 8. With the addition of 3 teams I'm sure they will take 8 to keep all things even.

Without knowing a ton about the west, certainly Salem 1 and maybe Louisa 2?
This is my top four. They could finish in any order 1-4
Salem
Louisa
GW
Pulaski Co

This is my next four. These teams will all be about the same. The Seminole District is one of the best in the State top to bottom. You may see one or two losses for them but they will be strong in the playoffs

Amherst
Jefferson Forrest
Western Albemarle
EC Glass

Bottom teams

Orange (can slide into top 8 due to Seminole being so evenly matched)
Blacksburg
Halifax Co

What's going to be interesting is the power points from Louisa, WA and Orange. They do not play anybody else from 4D in the regular season.

I know Salem lost some great players, however Salem had a very talented Freshman and Sophomore class. I don't expect much fall off. They will be very good again.

I believe Amherst will be there. The B team was undefeated a couple of years ago and this year the JV was undefeated. Most of them will be Varsity. That's what the talk is anyway

Amherst and GW will be top 4 teams. Amherst could possibly be better than GW. I do know that GW returns a lot and could be a contender to win the region. They showed me and a lot of you all, a lot against Salem.

Good point. Usually by weeks 9-10 it is easier to predict playoff outcomes since some many teams have the closely related schedules. The 3 new won't. It was real easy to predict 4D this spring over 6 games and no nondistrict.

It will ultimately be decided by the principals and ADs of the region.

I can see Amherst in the top 4. They will need to beat Heritage or LCA to capture bonus points
Salem
GW
Louisa
Pulaski

I think Amherst is close but still a year away. The 3-A teams in the seminole will still be stronger than the 4-A teams. LCA, Heritage, and Brookville will be the top 3 teams in the seminole again, and they would need to win 2 out of 3 to climb into the top 4 of 4-D.
