This is really not correct. Blackbird is not a simple song to play. A child who is a good musician could learn it, but it would take quite a bit of work.
It was one of a lot of songs on the White Album. I just always lumped it w/ Piggies, Rocky Raccoon, etc. Nothing on that double album stuck with me like some songs on Revolver did.

It's very sweetly referenced here by Ashley Campbell and her Godfather Carl Jackson though:

I created a Friday happy hours jukebox - based on stuff we listened to w/ actual quarters at the Skeller. Not an Open Mic Night.

no one cares. your jukebox was sold and the creator fired. Happens every day in the real world. :)

Ok. I respect your interest in newer music and open mind about experimental music, but I don't think that song is very good.
It lacked some important things for me. A hook, whether it is vocal or instrumental. Strong melodic statements (this isn't necessary at all for me, but it's an element that can make a song good to great), Technical mastery of their instruments or any interesting interplay between the instruments. Interesting harmonic ideas and changes (there is one semi interesting chord change). Lyrics - don't have to have them in a song, but they do and I don't know what they are. Rhythm is very important and that is one thing they had going for them. They seem to be superimposing a 3 feel over 4/4 which always grabs my ear.

And my honest non-biased opinion is that, you may not like them, but the Beatles were a great band. Like any musician/band, they have their share of subpar songs, but the great ones were really great and there are many. They did use all of the elements and more that are listed above, and more. They were gifted songwriters who may not have been virtuosos at their instruments, but sure made them sound interesting.

An honest opinion from a musician with 37 years of experience.
I was hoping you’d share, so I’ll share this. My big bro is a very accomplished drummer. I sent him this 30 minute set and he replied that all hope is not lost. You saying these guys aren’t next level musicians is silly (to me, and 100 critics)

Old dipsh*t doesn't even know who Carl Jackson is. Listening to young, crappy music isn't the fountain of youth. Try Gold Bond or Jayne Seymour's lotion if you're that self-conscious.

Funny, right now I am working on cataloging a huge pile of Beatles 7" singles into Discogs. My buddy somehow came up with about 40 of them for me for X-mas. Someone was moving and dumped them. Some cool picture sleeves, and groovy tunes. All mono and loud and up in your face.

There’s a reason certain rock bands are popular and yours aren’t….you have really poor taste in music.

I didn't say they aren't next level musicians. I said the song is not very good based on my personal criteria.

Don't ask for an opinion and then get salty when you don't like it.

What is silly is citing the number of critics that like your band and then shitting on the Beatles, who critics overwhelmingly love. You are contradicting yourself.

Okay I’m back. As a final thought, I think my musical taste is more varied than most. As wacky as it may be, I can LOVE bob seger AND black flag equally. and I do.

Check this perfect song. Listened to this on kitchen duty last night. Where all your hero’s have one foot in the grave or are dead, these boys at the time of the vid were 19

but pop music is popular for a reason, same reason we eat too much sugar.
“Lito, wooo wooo o ooo ooo” lmao

Please tell me you're trolling us with that shiat.... that is effing awful.

You know what is also wildly popular? NBA
Don’t be a Beatles Genesis Taylor sheep, it’s embarrassing

Man putting The Beatles in the same boat as Genesis, even I can't condone that level of musical illiteracy.

Genesis is pup. I know you're lashing out right now, but don't say hurtful things.

Ludd theory discussed: popular is better than unpopular as it relates to what sounds arr played on the radio and consumed by most people

example 1
is wildly popular song A better than the ricks unknown song B. (Ill say when I’ve seen B live)
Cher!

Courtney Barnett (seen twice)

example 2
38 special

natural child (seen 1nce)

example 3
Poison AWESOME heard it 5000 times on the radio!

Sonic Youth

popular is better?

"Varied" ... in the same way that Forrest's friend Bubba listed "varied" shrimp dishes.

I think he’d listen to a garbage disposal just to say he likes different stuff.
Bro I’ve traveled the country (and London) to see live shows including thousands of dollars for festivals. I like music that you probably haven’t (never) heard on your car FM
and that’s ok
im sure $800 ea for side seats at msg to see piano man is tremendous, I’d rather see LCD from the MSG floor at their feet
listen, they address this topic in song
