I remember in Flood's first year, we beat a bad UConn team 19-3 despite scoring only one offensive TD. Flood was crowing at te postgame presser "This was Rutgers football! This is what we're all about!". Should have realized then and there what we were in for.
the fake punt against michigan was one the dumbest decisions I've ever seen. Up on Michigan, and you fake it on your own 40 on 4th and 10 with a silly as hell trick play.

Another classic was when nova went like 5-15 with a few pics against V Tech and flood said he didn't see anything that made him think nova shouldn't be in the game

I forget which games this happened at, but he kicked field goals down 28+ points late in the game instead of going for a first down. To me that showed a "no clue" mentality. Not to mention the leaving Nova in to throw his 6th interception of the game as that not only hurt the team but I am sure it hurt Nova's confidence.

I can't speak for anybody else, but I wasn't asking the question to make a point. I was genuinely curious what the motivation was. I like to understand what makes people tick.
What I remember about that was it was around the same time you clowns were clamoring and fawning over Dan Mullen. Mullen did the same thing that week & it was an even bigger fire drill than RU's. Not a peep out of you guys though.
We were also 5-1 at the time of the fake punt & could have been 6-0.
Just to clarify, I think that most people (including myself) who want Flood to be fired at this point support the players and program without question, and will still come to all the games. However, we do not support the coach, his actions/decisions, and do not feel that he gives us anywhere close a chance to be a legitimate winning team. RU athletics' financial situation is admittedly difficult, but if the remainder of the season goes as I think it will the financial impact of keeping Flood as head coach may very well become equal to or greater than the known savings of keeping him cheaply for another season.
As far as this thread goes, I laughed at some of the quotes already recalled thus far. I'd say comedic relief is a lot more preferable to miserable bashing of the coaching staff, and thus a good reason to start it.
Well he did it again this past week against Wisconsin. i think his previous quote was "I just wanted to get our kicker some experience." looking back and combining these quotes from this thread with his personal emails give me a whole new understanding of who we are dealing with.

I actually liked that we went for the fake and thought that it was such an absurd decision that Michigan wouldn't be prepared for it. The actual play that was called was a total mess but I was all in with the decision to go for it.

it was the combination of factors that made it a really bad call. it was also near the end of the 1st half, which gave michigan momentum, and They scored a TD right after. we were damn lucky to score so quickly after or we would have lost
I totally respect your support of the team, but I think you're going off the wrong basis... we DO have the money. That's the biggest myth perpetuated here. We may not have money for a superstar coach, and that's fine. But when dozens of non-p5 programs pay much more to their coaching staff, and we pull in 4-5 times in TV contract (even at drastically reduced B1G entry)... the money is there. At the very least for an up and coming OC/DC or non-P5 head coach.
This is what every athletic department does. Trust me, I worked with one. They promote that they're broke as hell over and over to garner more funds. Sure, we don't have a lot, and we probably do have real money problems... but we're not UConn bad, and apparently, they can afford more than us. They pay Diaco 1.5M+
What's going on is Julie gets a win-win here. Either she comes in as the hero with a new coach, or can keep instilling this party line that we don't have money for a coach. As long as fans believe this, it'll happen. The top level boosters know better.
And even if you refuse to accept that, Joe Moglia is a great option, who would be out of the box, and wouldn't cost us a cent. So there you have it.

unfortunately we have a largely mom and pop fanbase. They place importance on warm fuzzies and regular guys that they can identify with. For years the athletic department has been teeming with them and Julie has to work hard to get rid of this attitude of small time almost high school rinky dink thinking.

I have my issues with Flood like anybody, and have said so. I don't get his handling of QB's at all.
