...I'm thinking they want the long national nightmare to end as much as alums do.

Edit to add: I had to reread your subject line. I thought you wrote: What are the chances the faculty do not approve of Keenum?...

Even if they don't "approve" him, do they actually have a vote that matters? Doesn't the College Board take everyone's feedback into account and them make the final decision? Obviously the faculty matters, but I don't think their vote is binding on the process.

I heard at lunch today, there will be some resistance. The staff are all at will employees and will do whatever they are told. The faculty, however, are more of a concern. They feel that another non-academic candidate is being forced on them. They also think that once Watson was out that IHL should have opened the search back up to allow other internal candidates (Schultz) to apply.

Now having said that, the faculty used most of their political clout getting rid of Doc. They can complain all they want. I doubt that anyone will listen. Especially when you consider that Keenum is the overwhelming alumni choice.

It's the whiny minority that don't want Keenum. He's by far the best candidate, and should have gottten the job the last 2 times. If the faculty doesn't like, they can go 17 themselves as far as I and almost everyone I know are concerned. And I still don't trust the IHL to not shut down Keenum, force another 17ing joke on us, and blame in on the faculty. The IHL should have no say in this. Enough of the "preferred candidate" ********. Just gives us the man we deserve.

to create friction from the beginning is not wise. There is no doubt that Mark Keenum will want MSU to be a good academic institution.
