I guess a lot depends on the compliance report and the infractions within the athletic dept. I wonder if Rutgers will only let go 1 of the 2 instead of cleaning house.
Based on the on-field performance - Flood is average at best and not getting Rutgers to the next level but we know what we have with him if we wanted to wait a year. Of course Wilson can be a decent interim coach.
Based on the compliance report - this can be the reason both Julie and Flood are let go since Rutgers seems to have a 0 tolerance policy for off field issues.
My course of action would be...
- if the report shows fault with both Flood and Julie then fire both
- promote Wilson as interim HC for next year
- hire a new AD
This will allow Rutgers to take its time hiring a new AD. The new AD will have the option next year to replace the head coach. It also gives Wilson a chance to prove himself to be the long term coach or to audition for a job elsewhere. If the new AD is able to hire the guy he/she wants after taking the role in Feb then they have that option too. Most likely an NFL coordinator.
