You read that and you're supposed to be thinking "poor, poor Rick Pitino. I feel so terrible for him!" It's ridiculous. Here's my thought...

At the very least, Rick looks up and sees Calipari has arrived at UK and he says, "Crap! How am I gonna compete with that?" He sees that first class Calipari signed in only a month or two and he's thinking he's in trouble. This rivalry, which he had done fairly well in for the previous years, is about to flip because of talent alone. Meanwhile, he's just finished embarrassing himself and the university with the Sypher affair. The brand is hurt and recruiting is hurt. So, what does he do?

Rick says to McGee- "Andre, we've got to do whatever it takes. When we get these recruits to campus, we've got to seal the deal. Now I'm gonna be involved when they get to campus and show them the facilities and campus, but then they're yours for the night. Do whatever is necessary to 'show them a good time.' I don't want to know. And if I find out, I'm still gonna say I don't know, and you're cut loose."

I say that's the least. This is an on campus, men's basketball dorm named after Rick's late brother in law. He keeps up with the percentage of body fat of each player. He knew when Chane was smoking weed and all his activities. This went on for years, not just once or twice. This man is the "Godfather" of Louisville. He knows what goes on, my friends. He knew about this and he was complicit in it. He may have set up a way to have plausible deniability, but he knew.

Reading between the lines, they've advised him that he may be asked to leave.

Translated: Rick, our guys will be in to up with your guys. We appreciate your service up to now and get us through the rest of this year. We see about next year.

Somebody needs to interview R3P's agent.

Exactly.

I'll throw another bone out there,Pitino is selling his Florida Vacation home to cover-up more UL Recruiting Cheating, with ties to Miami,Clint Hurtt,Mike Balado, and all kinds of Illegal Activity that involves the Football Program and the other Sex Offender Coach.
How would selling the Florida house cover up more recruiting cheating?

Rumor has it a few illegal things went on, used in recruiting ,there, selling it may not cover it up,but out of sight ,out of mind. It's sure not because Pitino needs the money or can't afford it.

According to the rumors, what went on there?
I don't claim to know anything, just a contractor that does some work around the state for Universities,Schools, and people with money that has friends in various trades that hear a few things, has more to do with football recruiting from what I heard.

SQUIRTino sounds like a broken man ..the arrogance is a sham..He has to know that Ramsey is getting ready to spring the tap door..The NCAA penalties will be much worse than this one season ban..Ole SCUMTino has put a stain on a slimy program that Lysol couldn't get out..uavel basketball will be handcuffed for years with the problems he has brought them..It really couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of Goobers..That had Ricky by the ballz with Sypher and Turtleneck let him off the hook..He violated the morals clause and they would have owed him nothing..but look at the crap they are facing now..L1C4..right...I cannot stop laughing..[laughing][laughing][laughing][laughing][laughing][laughing][laughing][laughing][laughing]
squirtino btw may be funniest nickname of all time.

Makes a lot of sense considering the Strong/Hurtt connection. If their football program gets rolled into this it's going to be like Christmas, Easter and Talk like a pirate day rolled into one.

I really don't care if the ncaa rules next week or next year. Nor do I care if Rick leaves tomorrow, or years from now. They're handicapped at this point, and it's entertaining as hell. Look, Staying in a jungle with roaming tigers is scary. Staying in a jungle and being stalked by a disabled tiger in a hoveround, is not scary. In fact it's damn amusing to watch. [smoke]

Just remember UL is a cesspool and cheating has been rampant since Tom Jurich was hired and has went on in more than basketball, funny how UL turned in to such a profitable, winner at a formerly third tier academic commuter school. Jurich-Pitino Cartel Le Cosa Nostra Baby

He's selling the Florida home(s) in order to pay for the laser surgery for removal of the UL tattoo on his back.

What exactly does L1C4 mean?

Will the turtleneck go after Mark Few or some big name to soften this blow that's coming their way?
I have no doubt UL will try to get a big name, but why would any decent candidate want to go into that cesspool?

My guess is they'll need a caretaker for a few years, and then after some of the stench is gone, they will be able to bring in a decent coach to take over.

Why does the NCAA drag their feet on Uvel and UNC? I know they supposedly want to complete their investigations to ensure they uncover everything (hah) but why not levy some punishment as soon as the violation is found and then continue to dig if desired? I have a hard time understanding Louisville still playing basketball this year and everyone still has a job.
You have to understand how the corporate world works. These "investigators" are on an expense account, staying in lavish hotels, eating at the best restaurants and taking in some of the best "entertainment" each city has to offer. It's like a paid vacation and they drag it out as long as they can. I played the same game years ago.

A really good investigative journalist could expose corruption worse than New York City politics[winking]
Those idiots thought they had their bases covered owning the local media, but failed to coverup the network,Little Dick Richard Pitino Jr has dirty hands too,Daddy trying to distance him to save his cheating son, remember he was Donovan's Asst in Florida and ran the Florida network for a while.

Very unlikely. The NCAA does not have subpoena power. The Grand Jury in Kentucky is investigating fraud committed on UL's campus with state resources. So neither will be looking inside Pitino's Florida vacation home. The actual explanation is much simpler. Pitino is selling his home in Florida because he can quickly raise several million dollars, he needs very expensive legal representation, and he is about to lose his job. This is a smart time to do it because the Florida real estate market may be on the verge of another down leg.

You can bet it will never reach the people in Kentucky politics it should, some dirty dealings went on in Louisville involving elected officials and tax $$$. Ol' Mitch McConnell has had his hands in the UL piggy bank for quite a spell.

Pitino may need legal help, but it isn't going to cost him $ Millions$ and he doesn't have to sell his Florida home to pay that,Real Estate and home building is actually on an upturn.

How about this quote "He talked about his decision to re-brand the program, “Louisville First,” and about how he owns the trademark." His ego is still cooking with gas! They're the 1st for sure with Katina-Gate scandal.

Such lovely hypocrisy. He'll rebrand as Louisville first and yet when it's time to file the trademark, it's Pitino and not the University who has ownership. And the Louisville fans will eat it up without ever understanding the significance.

His future involves a Frankenstein lynch mob with torches running him out of loserville. The same media forced to lick his ball sack will turn on Him like a pack of hyena shredding him to pieces.

If Nixon cannot cover up watergate, how can these clowns cover up strippergate? He's toast and him along with everyone else knows it.. Never would Penn St. Fire Joe Pa , but this sleaze bag walks Scott free. My guess is at the very most strategic time he can find , he will " resign " his duties as coach. Then the ncaa will strip him of a NC and FF or two.

I told people for, years Rick helped us , but we helped him even more. Without UK this guy will not have a title under his belt that is anywhere near legit.. Your welcome traitor!!!

At the risk of derailing the thread, I am curious about one thing. If there are any attorneys on here, perhaps they can answer this.

Typically anytime you create something in the course of conducting your job, it's considered a "work for hire" and ownership of any related copyrights or trademarks is retained by the employer. Why doesn't that apply to Pitino in this case? Is it simply of function of that possibly not being included in his contract?

In a University setting, it typically depends on whether or not University resources (including "work time") were used when creating the item.

Here, it would be tough to prove Pitino used University resources when creating the slogan. On the other hand, if he applied for it using his University email account, for example, the school could have a case.

They have let him get away with so much already though. I can't imagine they would even attempt to challenge him on this.

Which people would those be? Without access to evidence, do you know more about this than the Grand Jury knows? Sounds to me like you are all mixed up, having a hard time keeping different issues separate in your mind. If you don't like Mitch McConnell, then vote for a Democrat instead. That is a matter of your personal political preferences, not a matter for Rupps Rafters. But if you are saying McConnell is responsible for Katina Powell, then you may as well blame him for the Kennedy assassination too.

If you really don't think this will cost Pitino millions, that's just dumb. It will. And it should. He will lose his job, and he will require both criminal and civil counsel. Very expensive counsel.

Yeah, that ship has sailed at this point for the university. I just found that to be interesting.

I've had jobs before where if I were to invent something based on knowledge I gained from performing my job, my employer would have ownership rights to it even if I did the inventing work at home, on my own time and without ever using company resources.

For example, if I saw an unmet need in the market that is perhaps tangential to the company's offering but technically outside of the core business, they'd still have rights to something I'd invent to address that need. Interesting to see the difference.

Anyway, thanks for the response and this is the last I'll post about it. I've gotten this thread off topic enough already.
