Radio in Louisville is funny this morning.

Basically not addressing any mention that what if the stuff is actually true. Basically calling her a disgusting woman and that any BBall player could get whatever girl they want and do not need to pay.

Thats what gives me more hope than anything about this, the fact that the author is not some fly-by night character. This guy has one helluva resume, and the fact that he has already come out and said that he stands by what he wrote is huge. If this guy refuses to back down then it will all be over for UL.

The only thing that bothers me about it is waiting to see if the NCAA will be swift, or if it will be 2-5 years down the road before they actually made a decision and put penalties in place.

It may actually be better if it takes a couple years. 2-5 years of uncertainty and negative press before the hammer drops. It actually might be in Louisvilles best interest to get this over quick, serve their punishment, rebrand with a new staff put it behind them and move on.

In the CJ story this morning, it says the Indy paper reported Saturday that she says Pitino knew about it. She says no way he didn't since so many people were involved. She asked Magee if Pitino knew and he laughed and said "Rick knows EVERYTHING"

Here's a question I have....we know what types of players they allow on their football team....might this blow up on Petrino, too? I don't think Charlie Strong was the type to allow such things, but Petrino sure as hell is. He didn't use this woman, or she would have included him, but the culture is there. The football players had to know the basketball players were getting it.
Anytime NCAA investigators are on campus its not good. Its like an audit, all they need is an excuse then they can investigate everything.

OK...except this is Katina's most vulnerable point. She can't be charged with prostitution because no witnesses no evidence. And UL has no interest in attacking that angle since it is self-indicting.

Again...I'm not an attorney, but I am a businessman. And if I was a UL official, I would realize that anything we publicly say to defend ourselves just fuels the issue and makes us look guilty.

So I would attack Katina's integrity via the money angle. I'd use my pervasive influence to get the IRS to investigate and audit. If you've ever dealt with that mess, you would understand the financial and legal difficulties that a full 5 year audit presents. If she stuck by the storyline of her book, that opens the door for penalties and even jail time. And this all would happen outside the public arena (unless she was charged by the IRS with a crime).

$10,000 of unreported income over a 4-5 year period is hardly worth the IRS' time.

Regarding if McGee had help from a booster (from OP), again $10,000 over that period of time is not that hard to come up with for anyone who has a job and earning income. I believe in one of the text McGee stated he can't keep paying this type of money.

Why would Katina fear the IRS? From my knowledge anything less than $6k a year isn't taxable, so her $10k over 4 years is well below that threshold. I would also think that her money earned from the book would be more then enough to pay of the what.... $3k that might be owed on it.

Agreed. The money angle is the least of the concerns.

I caught a few minutes of Jerry Eaves radio show this morning. I thought that he had one good take. He said that it will be extremely difficult to get high level recruits to come to UL until they know what if any penalty UL faces. He guessed that would take over a year.

I would believe the same is true of McGee and works in favor of Pitino claiming ignorance - that money spread out over that period is really inconsequential - it could have come from a number of sources.

Even if all this turns out to be true - the monetary value isn't that big, and hiring strippers to entertain recruits (who turn out to be prostitutes) isn't shocking to anyone - it just means that UL must have some really ugly girls on campus is they resort to having to pay for it.

The LMPD has already said that they will not take up this case. They are saying it is the jurisdiction of the campus police (they don't want that hot potato). This despite some of the prostitution activities being off campus and the madam pimping out her underage daughter doesn't live on UL's campus. You can bet that the campus cops will do nothing unless Ramsey/Jurich ok it first.

That only leaves the NCAA to police this matter. Considering what went on with the UNC investigation, the Clint Hurtt investigation, etc., I don't have a lot of confidence in that.

The legal theory I havent seen posters look at yet in this thread: Defamation.

UL knew about it since August. Noone has sued for defamation. Very telling.

The book is either true, or UL certainly thinks its true.
Every conversation they are having internally is about making this go away asap. No courts. What could they sue Katina for anyway, her wig collection?

Not likely to happen. That would open the issue to counter suits, interrogatories, subpoena power and the potential for Pandora's box. Regardless of whether or not it s true, I can't see UL ever taking that risk.

Either way Louisville basketball recruiting will be in shambles for a long time. Can you imagine the mother of a 5 star basketball recruit allowing her son to go on a recruiting trip to Louisville much less playing basketball there.

This will not hurt recruiting. First of all, this lady is crazy and everyone is denying it. Plus, you don't think this happens at every single school in the country? It will not effect recruiting because you see this everywhere. Sorry, guys but you are proclaiming the death of UofL again and it just ain't going to happen.

Happens everywhere? Is this UNC all over again?

The only reason this will not hurt recruiting is that your recruiting already kinda sucks for such a "big time" program.

Exactly. IF she were lying, UL would sue for defamation because defamation requires FALSE statements.

Theyre not suing because they think/know shes telling the truth, and theyre scared to get into the discovery phase; which would include tracing bank accounts etc.

I am an attorney, but not a criminal attorney. But I find it incongruous that U of L boosters could be prosecuted criminally (for mail fraud or conspiracy or whatever else) but Katina somehow would not be. That makes no sense. That would in effect be prosecuting the john but not the prostitute - that never happens. So, I think it is very unlikely that this will end up a criminal matter. What U of L has to worry about (other than just the reputational hit) is the NCAA.
The FBI can prosecute whoever in the hell they feel like prosecuting.

Dumbest thing I have read in this thread for sure.

Your 2 highest profile coaches had highly publicized trysts(proven true), one involving an abortion and immediately you think this episode is all BS. And then say this exact same thing happens EVERYWHERE. Really? How would you know that and and even if it did (which it absolutely does not), what makes it acceptable behavior? That says more about you and your insipid fan base than the whores that pulled the tricks.

What kind of parent out there would even entertain the thought of sending their prized recruit son (or daughter for that matter) to that cesspool after all this?

Your little school may not get hammered but your reputation could not be any lower.

Even UK is disowning you as Little Brother. You don't deserve that honor or mention.

I think the best we can hope for here, is that perception is reality. However, that may be enough to cripple UL for a while.

Really? With all the negative recruiting going on today you don't believe this will have a negative impact? I mean you are sex scandal U and there is ample evidence to support this. I understand having tinted glasses but come on Helen Keller could see this clearly.

This doesn't happen everywhere..or it would be widely known and this wouldn't be a story. You uofl fans are hard denial..first no one even knew who Mcgee is..so why would a prostitute randomly pick him? Two it names recruits...ones that didn't even attend uofl..how would she know you were recruiting them...I guess she reads rivals ranking lists...lol. uofl cheating yet again. The funny thing is it names Antonio Blakeney who dropped your sorry school and you all cried that lsu was cheating...turns out you were for him. I hope he cooperates with the ncaa and rubs it in your face for doing the most louisville thing ever...destroying kids character when they don't pick u, when it turns out your school has absolutely no character.

Sorry tard fans..it's going to get worse. Will be the 3rd time you've been caught cheating since UK did. Uofl dirtiest program ever..figuratively and literally

That is exactly what his excuse sounds like. Some UNC fans have continually argued that it happens everywhere, but they fail to distinguish between really easy classes and fake classes, which is a HUGE difference. Here, Louisville fans are failing to distinguish between ball players running around with women (and maybe even prostitutes in rare cases) and getting drunk (and maybe doing drugs), which I am sure happens at a lot of schools, and coaches actually paying to prostitutes and throwing parties with alcohol and drugs for recruits and players. That is a HUGE difference.

Their ignorant fans keep mentioning Duke Lacross. They obviously do not realize that no one even at Duke denies that there were strippers paid to entertain the team and that sex happened.....it was whether it was consenting (rape). This situation is similar in that there was strippers hired and sex...but Karina has never said rape happened.

What gets me are the UL fans that - on social media - are trying to flip this on me and UK fans. Just because I think it is true. What BS. "An indictment on UK fans and society." Because I'm not waiting for "proof"?!!! The pompous attitude of these fans, they deserve it.
