Just wanted to make sure that I got a post in the longest thread in history. [smoke]
FWIW, there appear to be a lot of holes in the stories and the various versions that have now been told by the same people. I'll wait for the results of the investigation before passing judgment. There is much that doesn't add up right now.

Agree, this might be the longest thread ever.

This thread is so big it makes other big threads look not big

There is one for starters. You get the normal skirt, another on the crew compartment, one on each of the OMS pods, one for each solid and one for the tail. There is not one for the external tank but that may have dissipated for that picture. That's not the most dramatic one I've seen but it should whet your appetite. I'll drop it for now as I'm getting us off topic and we don't want to jeopardize our 100 pages. I love aviation though.

That's a cool image. I'll Google it and check out others floating around on the web...and as you said, back on topic. :sunglasses:

I wonder who has control over the other evidence Powell claims to have. Since the threat of prosecution for sex trafficking came up, it may not be in Powells best interest to keep it, which would be a god send for UL. Hopefully the publisher has it locked up tight.

Anyone care to guess his long it will be before the NCAA sends the list of infractions to UL? That has to happen since Lyles verified the gist of her story, right?

I thought Coach Cal was classy with his comments concerning the fire brewing in L1C4 land.

Classy, but also sincere. It IS bad for college basketball. No top coach likes the idea of someone on the periphery of the program writing tell-all book, because every program has renegade boosters and friends of friends who can't be directly controlled.

Cal has the better job and the upper hand versus Pitino. He's not threatened by him.

College basketball is funded mainly by the big TV networks. The business model is already in trouble because the best players leave after a year. Having UNC, Syracuse, Louisville, etc. knocked back by scandal doesn't help the next time the NCAA negotiates the TV deal with CBS.

There is a niche audience for college basketball. That audience grows exponentially in March. For three weeks college basketball dominates the sports landscape. Twas always thus, and always thus shall be, no matter who is on probation.

There's some truth to that, but you can tell something's wrong when UNC (a school that hasn't recruited well for years because of scandal) is preseason #1 because the likes of Kentucky and Duke lose their best players after a year.

Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, UNC....as long as at least one of these programs has a very good team, people will be interested in them. I hate to say this, but it would be better for college basketball if UCLA or Indiana made it five or even six. I just don't think people really care about Arizona or Wisconsin comparatively speaking. If some coach came along and made IU or UCLA a powerhouse, it would be a shot in the arm for college basketball.

I think that what holes there are, have been created by the UL side of the story. They are doing whatever they can to try to discredit the book, and the author. You will see much more diversion from UL before this is over, but I do not believe that they can lie their way out of this one. Too many people, including students all over campus, knew about this. Give it time, and there will probably be more discovered than was in the book.

Matt Jones last night on periscope said UL is not in a little trouble, but alot of trouble. His sources always end up being on the money when it comes to stories like this and recruiting.

I see lots of future issues for UL, including this season. The fan base gave Pitino a standing ovation yesterday and quite possibly the last time he's going to be leading anything.

But does Jurich have the nerve to push the blame all on Pitino or a rogue coach who had connections with the wrong type of people. Pitino should take the hit for this one and this is the last stain he will endure in his HOF career. That tattoo will be a daily reminder.

Lol at uofl fans trying to look at all these angles. Only 3 things matter..there were prostitutes, in the dorm, for money. Nothing else is of relevance. No other part of the story matters.

Well, we'll know soon enough. There's not much in between here. Some like Jones say it's big trouble, many UofL fans attempting to explain it away as nothing. We'll know for certain at some point - although, who knows when that will be.....

It's not REALLY an egregious violation in my opinion, other than the girls being so young. I have a buddy, UNC fan, and his response was "so they hooked up with strippers, who cares?" I tend to agree. If this was UNLV instead of Louisville, this thread would be one page long.

What's going to kill U of L is the cover-up, if there is one. If they jettison Pitino and hire a man with a squeaky clean reputation to replace him, I think the banners stay up. If they fight for Pitino's job, I think they risk huge repercussions. That's what they are weighing right now, I guarantee you.

UL's new general counsel was in the middle of the UNC mess when she was there. I'll bet she thinks twice before hiring a truly independent investigator (like UNC did with Wainscot) because no matter what the final outcome it'll string things out for years while the program twists in the wind.

Could Louisville find a replacement as good as Pitino? Probably not, which is why they are hesitating.

I hate to disagree, but there are lots of other parts of the story that matter greatly. They gave recruits cash, who in turn chose to give it to prostitutes. They gave recruits alcohol, many that were underage. They practically forced underage recruits to have sex with underage, and legal age prostitutes. They sent prostitutes to fathers of recruits, while they were staying in local hotels. They called a member of another athletic dept, at another university, to arrange for prostitutes to service a recruit, at UL. Oh, there is a lot more that matters besides just prostitutes in a dorm, for money.

What could kill UofL is if they get caught lying to the NCAA. I think it's pretty obvious much of what happened in this book is true. Otherwise Pitino, Jurich, et al wouldn't be parsing their words so carefully. Remember, RP hasn't denied any of it other than to affirm (again and again) he didn't know. RP even said on Tuesday that the NCAA advised him to stop talking about the allegations. He hasn't. Jurich, on the other hand seems to have completely clammed up.
Now, we still don't know what Blakeney told the NCAA. Lots of guessing on all sides. He's the proverbial straw in this case. If UofL doesn't know what he said and they testify counter to what he told them, UofL could be in really hot water. I'll believe it when I finally see it but, it is possible.

i think the biggest problem UL has is that a person or persons employed or connected to the program paid for these strippers/prostitutes

as i have stated before, i think ul is in deep trouble

My apologies to those who read my post the other day that said my sources tell me Katina Powell gave an interview to ESPN and they were going to air it the next day. I was only half right.

ESPN is adding additional interviews of the daughters and other prostitutes and plans to run the whole thing Tuesday.
