There's rumor that aTm will go after Wilson. That would make good sense as he would give them the experience of having faced the West. OC??

I have heard that same rumor about Melvin. I doubt that it happens though. I heard earlier that the Bears were really wanting to pony up for Frank Wilson. They were trying to reach a deal somewhere around 650k. Which is unheard of as a RB coach. They really need their staff together since the peak of the recruiting ends once the dead period is over.</p>

And if Mullen seriously thought Melvin was leaving, he’d have given him the boot – like when Frank Wilson was talking with Tennessee.

same post egg bowl handshake that Torbush did a couple years ago. Maybe I was reading it wrong though.

It's time for Melvin to go. He hasn't been doing **** for us.

But for him to go to Ole Miss....I just can't wait to see the message board reaction, because for years Ole Miss folks have been using the old m$u crap with Melvin as the known bagman.

If Melvin goes, OM will have to pay the buyout. Melvin has one year left before he can retire. He was good for us in the JWS era, but he has done nothing over the past 3 years. It would not be much of a loss to me.

as is our DC. Losing either one would not be good. Given our DB's now, and our pass defense, how can we complain about Melvin?

term with Sherrill. He is on his final stretch, and he doesn't have the fire for recruiting like he did in the past. We need a recruiter to fill his shoes. It's won't be hard to fill the position, but his replacement needs the knack for recruiting.

but I do know he's become lazy as hell, and has cost us some guys the last 2 years.

That is very true. In fact, one month this fall he only had 3-4 calls on the call log to recruits while the other coaches had over 100 calls. Melvin is collecting a check and that is all.

MS is a great corners coach and recruiter. Lazy??? Mullen must see some value. Our corners played close to the best scoring defense in the country. Take away the AR game and they would be near or at the top. His guys played a helluva lot better than Hevesy's and the special teams coach. Retire...Melvin is early 50's. I hate that people are caught up in this young coach is better (see Mirando); there's nothing new in the game of football.
