What direction should Vandy head if Malzahn says no?

I vote Ken Niumatalolo at Navy. No idea if he's content there or if he's been tabbed as the successor at another program, but I say hire a triple option/veer expert and eat the hell out of some clock. Vandy needs to be the disciplined team that causes headaches for other programs by being the only offense of that type that SEC teams have to scheme for during the year. If they can get very good at executing that offense, I think it could narrow the talent gap between their roster and other SEC teams.

His type of offense seems to work well when the talent level is not there. Vandy is going to have to schedule very well. If they get the right four out of conference games they could go 6 and 6 here on out. Surely the new coach will win two SEC games.

and a service academy type coach would be ideal. Malzahn would be a great fit too. I think Paul Johnson would win at Vandy as well and to an extent, Rich Rodriguez.

Vandy will never have top flight players. But with a system in place, they would attract disciplined players and may even get a high talent QB or RB to get them to the next level.

He's another Paul Johnson disciple that GSU hired away from Georgia Tech this year to re-install the triple option down there. He's got in the final four of the FCS playoffs as well this year.
