Artis Gilmore, Spiral Agnew the former vice-president, Macho man Randy Savage, The Big Show, the Rock. I don't know how famous he is but my buddy is Roger Suttner who was the 7'1'' starting center for Kansas State in the final four against ucla the year they won their 1st championship.

Yeah Big Show was pretty cool. Mark Henry, not so much.

Met Kareem at the 97 championship game. I was like 15 at the time. I had no clue who he was. My dad had to explain who he was.

Derek Anderson in an elevator in downtown Louisville.

Huey Lewis backstage before the concert.

Ken Griffey Sr at an autograph signing in Louisville back when he was still playing with the Reds.

Cast of Counting Cars at a meet and greet during our trip to Vegas. Unfortunately Danny wasn’t there.

Pro bowler Mark Roth at a Crusade for Children benefit in Louisville.

Rex Chapman at a UK game at Rupp earlier this season.

Rick Robey when his partner was the realtor selling my moms house, met him at the office.

I met Jerry Springer in a hole in the wall restaurant. Was super nice. Bought me a cup of coffee.

Met Johnny Depp and George Clooney on the same weekend. Depp was friendly enough but you felt like he didn’t really notice you even when he was talking to you. Not much of a talker, maybe said 10 words in the few hours I was around him. Clooney was the exact opposite. Super personable and would go on and on. Kind of person that seems like he is everyone’s old pal.

I met Robert Plant at a festival in Louisville. I was awe struck. The man is a living legend.

What famous people have you met and how was the encounter?

Some posters were talking about this in a different thread and it was really interesting. Figured I would get a thread going on it to get some more of you crazy people involved.

So who have you met and how did you meet them? How awesome were they? Or, in most cases it seems, how big of a prick did they turn out to be?

Let’s hear it!

I met Josh Groban 3 times, singing in a backup chorus for him.

No joke, when he tours, he asks local university choirs to be his backup chorus for a few songs, we U of L got to sing with him in Louisville, Indy, and a year later, in Cincy. Didn't get much time, but he was nice and personable to us.

Totally believe that about Springer. Seems like he’d be a very humble guy.

awf, do you like turkish baths? Do you like gladiator movies?
I do like gladiator movies.......Ben Hurr was one of the greatest movies.....while I have never been to a Turkish bath I have a quick related story.....
I have a bad shoulder......while visiting the Roman baths in Bath, England I splashed some of the mineral water on my shoulder........I know they have signs that say to stay out of the water.......they also said that the water had medicinal qualities.....

Met Bush and Oboma as well. Oboma is shorter than I thought he would be. I’m 6’1 and he was a good three inches shorter than me. TV makes him look a lot taller I guess.

I've met the entire 1996 team. Mark Pope, Tony Delk, and Walter McCarty when I was in 7th grade when they were doing an autograph tour. The rest of the team at a hotel when they were doing a reunion. They were mostly super nice, especially McCarty. Antoine Walker was just playing on his iPad and barely looked up when I was trying to check him in. Jeff Sheppard was very flustered but he was organizing the entire event and was super busy.

He was nice but it lasted like 2 seconds. It was a lexington comic con and a friend wanted me to wait in line with him. I just walked up and said "Hey I'm a big fan" and he shook my hand and said "thanks for coming out!" and then roundhouse kicked me.

Joe Strummer of The Clash. Stayed at the same hotel as the band by chance for a concert at the Pontiac Silverdome in 1982. The lineup was The Clash, Eddie Money and The Who, in that order. I was in the hotel elevator about 1 am and Joe Strummer gets on. I told him I enjoyed the show . His response : “I f’ought it went like a load of shite”. But I ended up having a couple beers with him and some roadies in the hotel bar. He was not a fan of being on a bill withEddie Money. But a cool, if very earnest, dude. He actually seemed interested in what I was doing at th3 time(student) and what my plans were.

Gave hang gliding lessons to Michael Douglas. Very quiet (didn't want to disclose his identity) but athletic and caught on quick. I did not know who he was until after he left and the owner of the hang gliding shop told me. This was in 1979 before he had any top billings.

Pumped gas for Charlton Heston when I was living in San Clemente, Ca. night managing the Union 76 in the early 70s. Also pumped gas for about 30 Hells Angels one night and delivered a rental car to the Western Whitehouse for Trisha Nixson.

Last year I got to shake hands and have a short conversation with Mike Love, original lead singer of The Beach Boys.
