What has WVU gotten better at under Brown?

Curious as to where you see improvement under this new staff?

For me recruiting has improved. Classes are better "rated" but it's about what you do with the talent more than where a guy is ranked

Defense has improved. I would say it's better than under Gibson but still no where near good enough.

That's all I got.

Vault, agree with your two. I'd add that the attitude toward the development of players in WV High Schools and giving them a chance either as schollie players or PWO's. Also like the way he has added staff to dissect the game by adding analytics to the game preparation.
His pressers are much more informative and it shows that he is much more prepared than Holgs.

Not ending games with unused timeouts….
Recruiting is solid so far but I want to wait and see how they stick and contribute before judging…
Facilities and I get a sense the program is ran more professionally and with a purpose.
Defense has been consistently better with DLine recruiting and depth better than ever.

Unfortunately, that’s about all that I can think of that has tangibly improved. Timeout jokes aside. I hope that Brown can turn it around with the effort it seems he puts in to the program and the state. The oline is, to me, the biggest disappointment so far. I didn’t think they would regress from last year and I’m not sure I’ve seen a worse line during my lifetime.

Things improved...
Defense
Recruiting
Special Teams

That about sums it up.
Defense better....lol hardly.
Recruiting...be nice to keep some players lol.
Special teams...better? Really. Hardly.

That sums up reality...except in the band geek fan club.

Another quality post by my stalker.

Know how to talk sports here or just follow me around?
You don't ever post about sports because you know nothing about them. This thread is about Neal Brown's performance, so post about it, or GTFO. Special teams have improved somewhat under Brown. WVU hadn't had a good kick returner for many years until Wright this season. Legg is perfect on his PAT and FG attempts. Now, see how easy it is to post about sports?

Stewart was a great recruiter and team talent was never better than when he was fired. But folks didn’t like ole Stew.

Dana took WVU down the rat hole and was worshipped to the day he left because of his red bull personality.

Does this new coach know the fans only care about his charisma?

Who the hell was worshipping Holgorsen until the day he left? Sure there were some with a few extra chromosomes like Bucky, but no serious fans.

Stewart did recruit good talent to WVU. But he squandered it every bit as badly as Holgorsen. Stew had 3 cracks at a BE that an average Big 12 team could have won and he failed. He failed with a loaded roster from his predecessor and then failed with a roster Holgorsen used to win the BE and drop 70 on Clemson. So it was obvious his weakness was effectively using the talent he could get. Holgorsen was a worse coach and Brown may very well prove to be worse too, but none of that means Stewart was a good coach or likely to reach the levels Nehlen or RR reached at WVU.

It's obvious now that you are not a WVU fan. Quit pretending and show your true Kelly green colors.

Recruiting--jury is still out on that one, first classes were NOT an improvement. Maybe the current class (2022) will finish where it is now (25th), maybe not. 2021 was ranked 41st (24/7). 2020 37th. Results with all of Browns recruits don't match up to previous staffs accomplishments.

The program has deteriorated in QB play, receiving, rushing.

Defense--not sure where its better?

2019 WVU gave up 52 to Oklahoma (O only scored 14)
2018 59 (but the offense scored 56)

That's an improvement?

WVU still got blown out by i.e. Iowa State in 2020, Missouri, OU, T Tech in 2019.

They still give up winning scores in the close games against good opponents.

Serious fans like myself appreciated that Holgorsen won more games for WVU than anyone else but Nehlen. Fake WVU "fans"--many really OOC posers bashed him from the day he was announced in their efforts to wreck WVU football--which they've succeeded in accomplishing with WVU at an all time low.

Stewart carried over some RR recruits and Holgorsen helped him win some recruits in his final year. He lived off the legacy of RR primarily. Holgorsen had to completely rebuild WVU recruiting to play in the majors once Stewart was shown the door, from Stewarts infamous under recruiting.

Brown's best players still are holdover's from Holgorsen's time at WVU.

What the hell does 56 have to do with anything. A loss is a loss dumbass.

2021 WVU allowed 16 points to OU that's an improvement *****. Take your *** to the Houston board.

Giving up winning points in the 4th is a trait learned from the great Foldgorsen.

WVU currently at it's highest ranking ever in recruiting.

He also lost more games than anyone else but Nehlen. I don't recall anyone bashing him from day one except maybe those that only post during losses like yourself. You've lost your mind as Holgorsen won with all Bill Stewart's recruits. Holgorsen then found out he couldn't recruit good players to WVU because he sucked at it. He had to go transfer route for majority of players. Lucky for him some worked out. Unfortunate for the next coach because it left the place baron.

Holgorsen left over players? Really? You said he ran off all the players. Explain clown princess.

Play-calling (particularly in the red zone) has NOT gotten better; overall game managemet (having to call a time out before running first play) has NOT gotten better; QB play has NOT gotten better; overall team toughness has NOT gotten better, overall improvement of team has NOT gotten better. I do believe that a fair evaluation can not be made until after fourth year. HOWEVER do believe it's reasonable to expect some improvement each year. IMHO have not seen that.

WAS THAT HEADLINE A TEASER TO GET CLICKBAIT? "BETTER"? THAN WHAT?

Best winning percentages at WVU:
1. Clarence “Doc” Spears 80.8%
2. Bill Stewart 70%.
3. Rich Rodriguez 69.8%
4. Jim Carlen 64.6%.
5. Bobby Bowden 61.8%.
6. Don Nehlen 61.4%
7. Art “Pappy” Lewis 60.2%.
8. Dana Holgorsen 59.8%

Neal Brown is SUB 50%!

Get back to me when he's at least 60% for his WVU career. I go by results on the field. Neal has a Climb that's hard to Trust. Much as I hope to God he solves the problems, all of his making because he's the CEO. Head coach of every school should get the credit and the blame for what happens. None of this excuse tsumani!

What Neal Brown has done is draw in more:
Sit in mommies basement
Pot stirring attention grabber
Forth grade level maturity
Below forth grade intelligence
Zero athletic experience
Zero coaching experience
Human debris

All swarming to this site. Vermin will soon have a complete list of them below to start removing.

AND LOST MORE GAMES AT WVU THAN RICH, ART "PAPPY" LEWIS, IRA RAT ROGERS, BOBBY BOWDEN, CLARENCE "DOC" SPEARS, GENE CORUM, DUDLEY DEGROOT AND EVEN FRANK CIGNETTI, POSTER CHILD FOR LOSING WVU GAMES ALTHOUGH HIS HEALTH CONTRIBUTED TO IT.

Excuse me? I thought you said Coach Brown ran off all of Holgersen’s players?

You really need to review your notes more often.
Because you can't read?

I said he ran off significant depth. Depth that helped WVU to within 4 pts of playing for a BIG IIX CCG the season before Brown came in and wrecked WVUs football program.

There wouldn't have been any need for a "climb" if that had not happened.

He COACHED more games than anyone but Nehlen. But it was against the toughest schedules WVU had ever faced as well. Nice of you to leave that part out. Much like you left out that after winning the lesser Big East without Miami, VT, etc., and crushing Clemson, he had to move WVU into an entirely new conference with much better level of play and play a round robin every year.

AND with a depleted roster from the previous staff that took not only years to get the numbers back up, but also had to recruit for an entirely different level and style of play.

And he still won more games than anyone but Nehlen AND last five years was well above WVUs historical average for # of wins and never went below that avg number (7) his entire time--whereas Brown hasn't come close to WVUs average number of wins and certainly hasn't come close to exceeding it as Holgorsen did.

Facts matter.

Couldn't agree more with that. And 7W seasons are pretty much the norm in WVU history. Nehlen averaged that for 21 seasons. Tell me, how many 7W seasons has Neal Brown had at WVU?

Oh my stars!!!!! 1993 didn’t happen. A full season of WVU football when the Big East Conference had its first year of all conference games, with Miami, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Syracuse, etc all playing each other.

Who won the fully loaded original Big East that year Bucky?

Remember too, facts shouldn’t be ignored either.

WVU COMPETITION IN 1993 WAS MUCH TOUGHER THAN IN 1988 WHEN THE MOUNTAINEERS BEAT ONLY TWO TEAMS WITH A WINNING RECORD.
