What if the miss bears make it to omaha?......

Ran across a thread on one of the bear boards speculating how State folks would react if the bears made it to the CWS this year. Of course the general consensus of the mississippi faithful was that we all would go just bat-guano crazy if that happened. So I ask you. Honestly, how would you react?

I can only speak for myself and while I love to be able to use the acronym O.M.A.H.A. it wouldn't bother me much if the BNBs made a trip. I fully expect they will make it one day if not this year some other one. The reason it would not bother me much is one appearance does not a dynasty make. Now if they won the NC, yeah that would be a bad day but the bears in the thread seemed to think if they just make it to omaha that somehow evens the score. Sorry but that just aint true.

I'd be upset just like they were last year, but I don't think it effects Mississippi State in the slightest. It would still mean that Bianco has 1 appearance in 700 wins despite being in a position to be there several other times. Casual observer says "Wow Ole Miss is great! They made the CWS!" Anyone who matters (ie recruits) knows that's not the entire story.

I wouldn't care. In fact, I would make it a point to reference so many OM fans who have stated numerous times that it doesn't matter because TV ratings for the CWS are eclipsed by CSpan.

I would say that I don't care but inside I'd be pretty furious. 17 them and I hope they never make it!

We don't have a monopoly on Omaha, if they earn their way they earn their way

there and I don't have a problem with it. We just need to make sure we put the best team on the field we can every year and worry less about them or anyone else. Let's worry about what we can control.

I'm not even going to act like I wouldn't care, regardless of how many SPS swag points that costs me. I want them to go 0-2 and be out of their regional. If they make a Super, I hope they get swept. If they make it to Omaha, congratulations to them for certain would be in order, but I hope they go 0-2 there as well. Now, I won't be hanging on every pitch of their games and I'm not "obsessed" with them losing, but it would certainly provide a much-needed chuckle if they did bow out before the CWS. If they make it, life goes on, and just like they invent new statistics to devalue what Mullen has done in Starkville, I'm sure our innovative fans would find a way to spin our history vs theirs in new and creative ways.

Hell, I don't think Ole Miss fans do this any more than certain MSU posters do here on SPS...

They're probably overdue after the choke jobs at home in '05, '06, and '09. I would care more about them making it if we hadn't played for a national title last year. Still, I sure hope they don't.

But if they do go to Omaha, I hope we are there too so we can be like "yeah, so what?"

Really, it's not a big deal if they make it to Omaha. It won't mean that their program has passed us by, etc., but instead just that they had a good year. We finished #2 last year and continue to recruit well, so it won't bother me.

I would have been more upset had they made it in 2005 or 2009. Then it would have looked (felt) like they were leaving us in the dust.

they have one if not the lowest era in the sec and are one of the better hitting and scoring teams. they could very well win the whole damn thing and that would be very, very bad for what msu has been trying to build. they would instantly supplant us as the best program in the state. im hoping bianco will bianco this postseason. he seems to be consistent at that, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.

Making it to Omaha. Don't really care but prefer they don't.

Actually winning it in Omaha....I would have to move to Alaska to get away from the epidemic of doucheness that overtake the state of Mississippi.

It will be 17ing terrible. Unbearable....

Because ALL that will come out of their mouth is garbage about State. Not about what their rotation will be. Not about accommodations in Omaha. Not about the health of their team......Nothing but "better than State" this and "better than State that"; with the occasional comment NOT about how much Anthony Bourdain liked Oxford, but how he NEVER talked about Starkville.

That is exactly what will happen.

This West championship has made them go practically full-'tard already. Between our Omaha run and last 5 Egg Bowls, that is just how depleted their egos have become.

I know this is impossible because both teams' fans will always do it no matter what, but believe it or not, the two programs actually can be judged on a basis other than being compared to each other.

I would like to go ahead and offer my congratulations on UM's pending Omaha trip and their potential win in the final game to secure the World Series Trophy in College Baseball. Couldn't have happened to a more worthy team.

Glad I got that out of the way. Now I can go take a dump.

How will they feel if State makes it this year? I personally don't think Ole Miss has a deep pen and that will keep them from making it.

last year trying to explain why baseball was not important.


I really don't give two sh*ts. I can't name 4 players on their team.
but I am going to enjoy watching them meltdown when the choke comes
