What Improvements/Changes Do You Need To See

1. Robinson get more carries on early downs.

2. LP get most touches thru the air.

3. Stretch the field. I wanna see some vertical passing.

4. 50+ offensive points

With the way head injuries are being treated now, I will be very surprised if Dak doesn't play the entire game.

Nothing will improve my outlook in the Alcorn game. They're a SWAC school. Our scout team should provide more competition in practice.

Having said that, I'll say pressure from the DEs. I was very disappointed in them today. I think Preston Smith is the best DE on the team. Hopefully Quay can get his **** together, and that'll free up Chris Jones to move back outside.

7/17 for 89 yards, 0 TDs and a pick. Not sure he was that big of an improvement. The offense seemed to move better when he was in but I think that had more to do with Josh Robinson than Prescott. Feed Robinson and learn how to defend the zone read and y'all will be fine.

ETA: Not sure how much a change there was schematlcally on defense but it seemed like if nothing else, your guys tackled a hell of a lot better.

There's nothing we can do against Alcorn short of scoring 100 points and allowing 0 that will improve my perception of this team and coaching staff. Sorry. I haven't had this down and out about MSU football since 2008 when I watched that La Tech loss. I've made excuses for Mullen every year when we've had a terrible showing against a 2nd rate team or lost to a top team we should have been competitive with but after the 1-5 finish and then this I'm done with that.

I'll continue to support MSU and watch the games but I'm not going to get emotionally attached to this one.

Yeah I'm also feeling pretty bad about this team. I think Mullen has lost the team. I just don't think they really care (on the offensive side) our qb's and wr's look like they are sleep walking.

We obviously don't have the next Urban Meyer like some of us thought we had during that '09 LSU game, so for the first time since his hiring I'll admit that I wouldn't be upset letting him go... but somehow I know our athletic department would botch that hire and probably get some assistant from USF or something and to commemorate it we'd wear some special edition jerseys that look as bad as everything else we wear.

I would like to see us not trying to run the ball up the middle when we are getting stuffed on all but 2 plays through the third quarter. Especially with a senior QB and in 2nd and 15, 3rd and 12 situations. Perkins is not an up the gut running back despite what he wants to believe. The guy does was Dixon did until his last year. He goes up near the line, then shuffles his feet looking for the homerun on every single play. Robinson looked much better from that position despite Perkins getting the 2 big gains because of poor tackling.

Also would like to see our defensive end not crash on every 17ing play. Whitley did it a time or two as well from safety. How do you not know about containment against a running quarterback? Did they not watch Ole Miss pretty much beat Vandy in that one aspect of the game?

I agree with this post 100%.

Robinson should start and wear defenses down. LP should play on 3rd downs and catch screens

It's uncanny. No matter what the offensive coordinator SAYS they're going to do: "we're going to open it up! We're going to use the whole field! We're going to run the West Coast/Pro-style/spread! Blink and you'll miss it!" But then they find some sort of secret Lynn Amadie playbook squirreled away in some file cabinet, and it lights up like the briefcase in Pulp Fiction and they can't take their damn eyes off of it. "What do we have here; a series of handoffs...up the middle...GENIUS!!! Make sure the running backs just kind of hop around between the tackles and hope something opens up (slaps forehead) OHHHHHH BABY!!! Third and long...shotgun...draw??!!!! YES, where has this been all my life?!"

What I'm saying is we have to find this football Necronomicon and destroy it, before it's too late. Destroy it with some laser technology we have at North Farm and then scatter the ashes in the lake behind the Bryan Building.
