What in the hell are the Patriots thinking?

Obviously if they convert it then its more than likely a victory for New England. But damn you just never ever do that especially against a team that has Peyton Manning at QB. Belicheck WOW</p>

they probably should have run it on third and two. If you get tackled for a loss, then you punt. Then, if you are short, you are facing a fourth and one or inches and possibly in QB sneak territory or where going for it on 4h down is more in their favor.

Obviously, punting would have been the right choice, though.

that a-hole Belicheck wants to rub it in by taking a few knees.

I enjoyed every minute of it after he did that. Especially the half second handshake and running over 2 different photographers (pushing down one) on the way to the locker.

is probably just as idiotic as punting from the opponent's 30 when your behind so Croom certainly may have been involved in the decision last night.

..I've got one of the 2 best offenses on the planet and if I punt I'm giving it to the other one. And on top of that, Manning has already scored 2 td's with less time and more yards to gain than if I punt.

...wait, while Mullen's call was just as ignorant, it wasn't the Patriots attempting it.

It was a bottom tier SEC team attempting it vs. the #1 team in the nation.

Mullen's fake punt vs. Florida > Hoody's 4th down call vs. the Fighting Mannings.

This reminds me of a few years ago when Texas and USC played in the national title game, and Pete Carroll chose to go for a 4th down which, if they had gotten it, would've allowed USC to run out the clock. They didn't get it, and a few minutes later, touchdown Texas. It was the exact same situation except I think USC was closer to midfield. Carroll really didn't get much heat over it....not nearly what Belichick is getting. I don't have a huge problem with the call. Obviously, it didn't work out for them.

Going for it on 4th and 2 on your own 30?

and at the end of the game.... with the LEAD. Damn. Punt the ball and you probably win. I know you have peyton manning on the other side who can reach real deep in his *** and pull something out, but cmon! time was short even with the length of the field they had to move after the failed fourth down. Orgeron had to be really proud to see someone else make a boneheaded 4th down call that cost the team the game.

You know that ole Bill's heart stopped when ole stripes came out marking the ball short.
