What is a Gold Member?

I notice some of the posters have a gold banner in their name field that says "Gold Member". Does this make them/you spedial somehow meaning I should give these posters more merit when weighing whether their viewpoints are legitimate?

Can't be that I've been a member 10 years longer than Rover and I'm not a Gold member.
