Not the Maddow fiasco, but the much earlier video of Trump on the famous bus. What we know:
1. The recording occurred about 11 years ago.
2. NBC was in possession of the recording for all that time.
3. NBC chose not to publish the video but instead leaked it to the Wash. Post for publication
Why? Why would Andy Lack, CEO of NBC, turn over this crucial intellectual property to the Wash Post rather than going with this blockbuster of a story themselves? The ratings would have been huge? Why would NBC wait until October 7th to give it to the Post for publication? They had this video for 11 years and could have gone with it or leaked it during the Republican primary? Why wait until very late in the election cycle? As it was, the October 7th leak was right before a debate between Hillary and Trump adding more suspicion to this leak.
I believe Lack ordered the video to be leaked. He did not want NBC's fingerprints on the late release for fear of being labeled biased. He wanted it leaked very late to help Hillary. He did not want it leaked during the primary because it might help Trump's opponents that he felt would easily beat Hillary.
Interesting palace intrigue. Have you ever seen a huge media outlet leak their own intellectual property and an enormous story sure to generate huge ratings and attendant publicity to another media outlet?
