That is the dumbest thing. I think I've seen in college basketball. You have one job: to know when to turn the lights out.

I don't believe situational awareness is generally a requirement for the position of turning off the lights.

We are already the laughing stock of ESPN. We don't need this kind of help. During halftime, the ESPN announcer said, "We will go back to Mississippi State... the lights are on now.
What's dumb is having volunteers do the job. And putting them in a plywood black box in a portal with no view of the court. &tate get what it pays for. Which is $0.

Yeah, that was an embarrassing moment for the university. It was also a portent of what was about to happen in the second half.
If that is true we indeed have short-sighted dumbasses at the controls because things can happen at the buzzer with continuation that officials need to see clearly to make a call.
If I have learned anything over the last month, its that since a mistake was made, the person controlling the lights was obviously a DEI hire.**
