And why is it Patti’s 1880’s Settlement in Grand Rivers, KY?

Took My wife for Valentine’s Day tonight and it was even better than I remembered. Well worth the two hr drive. It brought up a discussion between my wife and I; What is the best locally owned restaurant in KY?

Not even the best BBQ in the Lex area. Blue Door Smokehouse is >>>>>> Red State
I think Blue Door's meat is slightly better, but Red States sides are faaar better, which gives them the edge in my book. I love Blue Doorm but I don't ranch beans with my bbq damnit, I want baked beans. 😁

Stuffing yourself silly with a 2” pork chop and flower pot full of bread is a terrible waste of booze.

IMO Jeff Ruby’s is local. That’s the best.

Repeal is not far behind though
Well, he's in three states & 7 restaurants, so he's a bit beyond local to me.

But since you like JR, Walt's Hitching Post at the bottom of Kyle's Lane hill in Ft. Wright is every bit as good, much more neighborhoodish, & half the price.

Have not eaten at Jeff Ruby's but Tony's is damn good, so long as price is no object.

Not in the same category, but for a local Mom and Pop operation I like Sage Rabbit on S. Ashland, lots of local foods to choose from, and cozy place to eat.

I'm trying to think of a locally owned place that I've eaten at that's bad. I can't think of one. All of them are good and have their appeal. Whats the sandwich place out by the horse farms.....Windy Corner I believe? Great sandwich shop.

Based out of Cincinnati and Louisville was his second restaurant. I mean, Texas Roadhouse is "local".

I like all of the locally-owned pizza places in Pulaski County, but Mill Springs Pizza in Nancy is my favorite of the lot. I like the Triangle in Nancy, too, but unfortunately it's currently closed for a while due to a fire. :(

Different def of local, but OK.

I believe Ruby had 5 restaurants in Cincy area before he went anywhere else. Today he has Precinct, Carlo & Johnny, & JR Steakhouse (Newest here I think.), but also had Waterfront (Covington), & Tropicana (Newport on Levee). Last two closed. Pete Rose & Johnny Bench got him started.

Jackson's in Richmond serves up some mighty fine country, waist expandin', comfort food at a reasonable price. Nothing fancy about the place at all, just good food.
Welder, I recommend Madison Garden in your next of the woods. Great place for a beer and hot wings. They have fantastic Brooklyn Brothers spice they put on the wings.

if it still existed I'd say Red's Fish House in Sorgho. I've spent so much time searching for catfish as good as they served. But for some reason nobody sells fiddlers anymore.

If you ever get over towards Cave in Rock Illinois, head on down to Elizabethtown, Illinois and there is a barge on the Ohio that serves catfish.

I don't live in Owensboro anymore, I live just across the river from Louisville in Indiana. But when I was growing up fiddlers were a thing. The Days Inn on 231 (🤮) had a restaurant on site that had a sign that said "Famous for our fiddlers".
