What is the continued fascination with Oregon by MSU fans?

Yes i get that we played them almost a decade ago in football a couple times.

Is that really why Duck fans still post on an MSU site and why MSU fans still talk about going to Oregon/meeting the great people/talk shop?

Not that there is anything wrong with following that program and all, ive just never understood what the appeal is. We have played tons of other nonconference teams and i dont see the same treatment or desire for fans to interact on each other's message boards.

Am i missing something here?

....beautiful part of the country most of us don't visit often, and the people were very hospitable. I don't think I paid for a beer the whole time I was there.

Plus, no sales tax. Who doesn't like no sales tax?

I'd absolutely love to go back.

They speak VERY highly of us and the folks that traveled out here and the hospitality they got in Vegas. I personally just like watching the Ducks. They are fun to watch. Their team speed is amazing. They have 4 options of giving the ball on every play. It is the spread offense on steroids. Plus more tittie bars and micro-breweries per ca-pita.

Don't forget all gas stations were full serve. You can't pump your own gas.

more tittie bars

If I remember correctly, they take "you can look, but you can't touch" to a whole new level in Eugene... As a matter of fact, you could only look from about 10 feet away, because they weren't allowed anywhere near the edge of the stage. Also, they kept their bikinis on the whole time. WTF??? Why even have a titty bar like that... Ridiculous.

But I will say, other than that -- oh, and the fact that the bar owners there seem to have a quick hook -- it was a fantastic trip.

People there unusually nice. Everywhere I went, people went out of their way to stop what they were doing and make us feel welcome. I've never seen anywhere like it.

And the Moosedrool microbrew freakin rocked.

don't think I have ever been as low going into that game... after going out there got news that Kevin Fant had been suspended for the game, but the folks out there were the most friendly, but still competitive I have seen, and yes I still support their football team..

the State fanbase at an away game....at least during pregame. We literally brought 5,000 people to the West Coast. And I think everyone brought to their cowbells.

Flew into Seattle where Brutius was living at the time and caught the Mariners/Royals on Friday night, then made the trip down to Eugene the next morning. Brut's bald head was getting burned until he bought a hat at the game.

I will say this.....all the hype about Autzen is just that - hype. There are about 11 SEC stadiums that are harder to play in than that place.

The Willamette Valley winery tour was awesome. They were bussing us around, so there was no spitting in the bucket.

Thanks for bringing back the sweet memories of that damn 2003 season, Kevin Fant, SUV tires and all that accompanied at the end of the season (read: Sly Croom)

Some kind soul returned my 13 tickets that I was responsible for to the lost and found in the Portland airport. That was one restless night until I found the tickets.

We played them in 2003 also, but in Starkville. Much like half the games that year, we gave up 28 points in the first quarter.

I got the years mixed up. I was at the 2003 game at Starkville and most of the crowd didn't know what hit us...We were down by 4 TDs even before most of the old-timers got their cushion seats strapped onto the bleachers!
