What is the reasoning for making a 1 year old need a ticket?

Better question, Why bring a 1 year old to a football game?
For them it is because the dad played at MSU and they had a bonus baby with 3 teenagers. I think the mom wants pics of her first game more than anything before the older kids are out of the house.

Where do you draw the line? It's a lot easier to just say everyone needs a ticket than have some arbitrary size/age cutoff when every kid is different anyway.
I get this. My wife mentioned that to me. Making people at the gate try to guess ages might be more than a little trouble.

The only thing worse than taking a kid under three to a football game is sitting near someone who brought a kid under three to a football game.
Agreed except I have no clue how much trouble kids are other than being annoyed with them going back and forth downstairs the aisle.

This.
Most sporting events require everyone to have a ticket. As they should
Texas Rangers game don’t require a ticket for 2 and under if they sit in your lap. Same with Dallas Mavericks. For the Cowboys, it’s 1 and under. I thought most sporting events allow for a 1/2 year old to sit in a lap without a ticket.

Are these bench seats or chair backs? Big difference in this situation.

We have a friend bringing the entire family to the game and she called the ticket office to double check. Apparently everyone has to have a ticket. I would have thought it was like airline rules where if a kid was young enough to not need a seat then they wouldn't need a ticket. Even Disney doesn't charge for kids under 3.

Why would we want to make it harder on young families to have kids grow up at games. This feels very greedy / short sighted. We don't have kids so never thought about it. Has it always been this way?
Because nobody wants your friends’ kids crawling all over them if they are the lucky saps that they buy tickets next to.

Never bring a kid under 3 to a game unless it is a lightly attended non conference game. You and the people sitting near you will have an infinitely better time. There was a clown sitting behind me at a game last week with a bunch of 5 to 7 year olds. All they did was beg him for food the entire time. Left 90% of the ice cream, soda and popcorn on the ground when they left before halftime. Incredible waste of food, time and money.

Both of my kids were potty trained before I took them to games. Had club level for years so had room inside for them to roam when they got restless. Also usually had a squaw with me to tend to them so I could watch game:)

Probably cheaper to get a baby sitter now than spring for season tickets for your kids.

I know most of yall only go to games in Starkville but this is NOT a situation unique to MSU. Everywhere you go requires a ticket for every person getting in regardless of age.

When mine were little (I think the first time they went they were 4) we went to I think Jacksonville St or someone like that. Something with a sparse crowd.

That’s the way to do it. Just go find some empty seats and sit there. When the kids get antsy they can crawl around the empty seats rather than people and entertain themselves

To accommodate for a toddler, you have to have carry bags with their extra diapers, drinks, food. For infants you have carriers and even strollers.

Fair. To my knowledge, none of these have bench seats. AT&T has an SRO deck, but otherwise, it’s all chairback seating.
