Considering this may very well be the most contentious trip to Oxford many of us have made what is acceptable behavior and what is asking for it?

Some examples:

Walking through the grove wearing Maroon?
Wearing maroon out to the bar Friday night?
Ringing a cowbell in the Grove?
Ringing a cowbell in Vaught Hemmingway?
Yelling "Go to Hell Ole Miss" at the end of the National Anthem?
School chants? When and where?

I'm sure some of you can come up with more questionable actions. What is your take on the above and what are some other things Bulldogs should avoid doing or carry on freely?

The fact that you ask this question.....

tells me alot about you. You really should be respectful and tactful of people in general. If you're about to do something, and the thought comes over you that it might piss some people off, then you probably shouldn't do it. But nobody's going to mess with you for wearing maroon.

Drunk college guys harassing old men after we beat them is not acceptable. I saw plenty of that in 2010. Pretty embarrassing since I was there with Ole Miss friends.

Wearing a mullet wig, bubba teeth, camo jacket, lacrosse boots over your jeans, and spitting dip constantly into a water bottle. If you are going to piss them off anyway, then why not be funny about it and go overboard on the stereotype they give our fans that they 17ing grew up next door to.

Some examples:

Walking through the grove wearing Maroon? Always wear your colors proudly no matter where you are.
Wearing maroon out to the bar Friday night? Ive been out to the bars after a bulldog victory and as long as you arent talking crap you should be fine.
Ringing a cowbell in the Grove? if you have friends with you ring it, if your alone i wouldnt advise it.
Ringing a cowbell in Vaught Hemmingway? Ring it and it will be gone in seconds. they will have security posted everywhere waiting for one of us to ring our cowbell.
Yelling "Go to Hell Ole Miss" at the end of the National Anthem? Yell it! nothing wrong with it.
School chants? When and where? Just chant it when your with state fans i dont advise you to do it by yourself amongst ole miss fans, drunk ones at that.

Don't yell.. Hey! There goes an Ambulance!

With the amount of starving lawyers on campus it would equate to yelling fire in a crowded theatre.

Look, in Oxford it all starts with your attire.......For men, it's a requirement

to wear a pair of khaki pants (prefer red pants but khaki will do), a red bow tie, white shirt, penny loafers (with tassels)/no socks, and a scarf........

They really like it when you go to the "Walk of Chumpions" and ring your cowbell at the players!

Do the first two and the last and you'll be fine. Do the rest and you'll get exactly what you deserve for being a massive douchebag. Ring your bell and it will be confiscated.

I have a Bear fan I went to high school with that claims they actually want us to keep the bell. He claims their coaches think it hurts 'crootin. He said they gave up popular things like the Rebel flag, Dixie and Col Reb just to help their image as a racist school (how's that working for you now?) but that we have a reputation as an "ag school" that some big city kids think is too country. To him, the bell just reinforces that. I don't see where traditions like that hurt, but they do seem to get more than their share of recruits--at least the out-of-state ones. Florida just stole a 4 star lineman from them today.

I've rang my cowbell in the grove and will continue to do so......

Now, I don't ring it at people passing by or make comments but if I'm in a group of MSU fans I'll ring it and ring it proudly.............

Same things that are acceptable at any away game. Don't be a douche bag, support your team, and wear whatever you want (as long as its maroon). If or when we win, then its acceptable to be a little bit of a douche bag and rub it in. (see: me 2010)

Don't go on a racist tirade like Brad Lott agianst Eric Dotson on TV.

"The racist outburst on Nov. 30 (1996) by former Mississippi state senator Brad Lott would have sent shock waves regardless of where it had occurred or who had screamed the words. That the tirade came from a prominent Mississippian during an Ole Miss football game at the Oxford campus made the incident all the more disturbing.
With 45 seconds left in Mississippi State's 17-0 win over Mississippi, Lott, 33, who served in the legislature from 1992 until last January, descended from the stands to a fence 20 yards from the field. For nearly a minute he screamed furiously at State noseguard Eric Dotson, cursing him and threatening to "get" him. He repeatedly called Dotson "******."

If you bring your cowbell inside the stadium, you basically have to save it for the end of the game. Their "cowbell cops" there make sure nobody is ringing until the game is pretty much over. At least this is what I did in 2010

Ringing a bell in the Grove = Same thing as walking by and being Tiger Baited by LSU fans when they come to our places. Doing it in the stadium is another thing altogether though.

I think wearing a Yogi bear costume would be a really nice touch.

In 1998 a helicopter flew over the grooooove and landed near the stadium. A guy I was with shouted "it's Auburn flying in the money." I wouldn't advise this as most UM fans didn't approve. It turned out to be true though.

In 1998, I was yelling "WAR EAGLE!" at the then-Rebel players when they made their cruise through the Grove.

In the stadium is what I was referring to. You won't get it confiscated outside of the stadium unless you act like a complete and utter douchebag and piss someone off enough to try an whip your *** for it. That said, if you're ballsy enough to walk through the Grove ringing your bell, you should probably be prepared to defend it/yourself. It would be equivalent of Rebel fans running through the Junction, jumping in people's faces and yelling Hotty Toddy. I don't think either would be received warmly.

I have heard plenty of Hotty Toddies in Starkville, both in the Junction and during the game. NONE of them required self-defense. I guess OM fans will do what they do best if they hear the bell in the Grove, overreact.
