Anderson grew up a Louisville fan.

How did that turn out for the Cards? Once Pitino showed interest, Anderson was UK all the way. We had a loaded roster anyway, so I don’t think Anderson was afraid of competition. If adding Allen would have done anything, it would have pushed Rhodes out of the picture. Rhodes probably transfers a year early as a Sophomore in ‘94 if Allen is in the picture.

Haven't read the whole thread, so these may be repeats.

I'm going back a ways for this one: Gunther Benkhe (sp?). Big, highly skilled 7+ footer slated to join the '84-85 team. Would've allowed Kenny Walker to finish his career at the 4 spot, and gives legitimate size to the 86 title contender.

2nd one I thought of was big enes, but on further reflection, josh harrelson ended up having an outstanding season that year, so I'm not sure how much of an upgrade kanter would've been?

Kanter was a monster. I mean…the kid had been training and playing against professionals. (and the ncaa has allowed plenty of those guys to play before and since but for some reason Kanter was ruled ineligible)

That said, i do think Harrelson was ultimately the better defender. His defense improved so much over that season that Cal felt comfortable not doubling PoY candidate Jared Sullinger.

But Kanter would have put up similar numbers to Cousins. He had an unbelievable motor. Didn’t he break Dirk Nowitzki’s hoop summit scoring record? He’d still be on a roster if the nba wasn’t freezing him out over the china stuff.
