What pizza joints are around for Dave Portnoy to review in Starkville?

If we could only bring back Pizza King from the 70's. It was near Farm House on University and served the best pizza and sub sandwiches. Magnifico!

For my money, the best pizza in Starkville is Newks. Not your traditional pizza with red sauce, but the crust is amazing and the ingredients are fresh.

I have not tried boardtown yet. The Chicago style pizza at the dark horse was pretty good but it’s been years since I’ve had that.

I'm just excited to have the Walker-Portnoy ongoing feud come to Starkville. It's great entertainment and that's what they want. I'm way too old for most Barstool content, but those two are a hoot.
Dave and Brandon definitely have that relationship of giving each other **** that I have with a lot of my friends. I think Dave likes that Brandon doesn't kiss the boss's *** like some of the Barstool guys do.

Boardtown is the closest thing to what Portnoy likes. Crunchier coast, a little char on the bottom, cheese only.

We all know Brandon Walker is a sex symbol, but it's also an honor to welcome El Presidente himself to the Jewel of the Golden Triangle. With SEC nation coming, I hope there is a good showing of students in the amphitheater for the Barstool show as well. Barstool is huge to the younger crowd more than most even realize, and we sure could use a boost with recruiting students.

We need to look good for both the blue hairs sitting on the couch watching SEC Nation on satellite, and the under 40's streaming the Barstool show on YouTube. Georgia is walking into a difficult place to play, and I really do believe we can win this one if we show up.

We are BACK as a program, and literally three plays away from being 8-1 and top 10 in the nation. I've reminded everyone I come in contact with about that. As State fans, let's not forget that. Lebby knows what he is doing, and is clearly learning from his own coaching mistakes with a team who could have packed it up and checked out after all the heartbreak this year. As of now, they have not. I'm emotionally invested again as a fan, which is dangerous but hopefully they don't let me down.
On a Barstool note: Anyone tuning into the Batstool Internet Invitational being aired on YouTube? A lot of social media golf talking heads Cool venue and better golf than I expected to see.

I saw a Pizza Hut here with a lunch buffet, walked in thinking it would be like the Starkville days, it sucked balls.

Can’t wait for 615 to start a thread predicting the closing of Mississippi State because Dave portnoy didn’t give a good rating to any pizza in town.
Or John Bond tweeting we are to liberal because we only got a 6.5

That certainly was the motto of the very robust west-Jacksonian females that would decimate the buffet at the one that was on County Line once new pies were plopped down.
I'm assuming you're referring to the one on Wheatley. I've actually been to that on within the last 10 years or so. It's Asian food now - if google maps is up to date.

25ish years ago there was a takeout Pizza Hut on Old Canton near Parham Bridges, best pizza ever and I've had pizza at John's of Bleeker in Manhattan and Reginas on Thacher in Boston.

I had Strombolis before the Texas game and it still is amazing. It is not Dave’s style, but it is one of my favorite spots for Mississippi is Mississippi. We had an Italian exchange my senior year and he thought it was solid. That is the best vote you can get in my book.

I'm not reading all the guesses in this thread first, but doesn't it make sense just for the marketing that Dave would review... Dave's?

Surely he'll have time for two bites of pizza.

Yep, the one at CL and Wheatley. You could sign your death warrant at that buffet if you played it wrong.

Thread Hi-Jack.

Has anyone ever eaten a Hunt Brothers Pizza? I've never even considered it but you see that sign in front of every podunk or shady gas station across the South.

Apparently they sponsor a NASCAR?! Had no idea they were that successful.

I love watching his pizza reviews, but I really wish he would provide more explanation to the "one bite. everybody knows the rules"

Well, I'm watching this guy take multiple bites and essentially devour the whole piece, and NO, I don't know the damn rules.....but in the same breath, I will now go do a google search for "the rules"

He is a new york pizza guy, so I doubt Starkville has anything that would break a 5, but, would be cool to see him do some reviews in person

*edited for "first ever pizza review"

Man that was an elite family dining experience back in the day. Pizza Hut really screwed the pooch when they got rid of that. Just a peak in to downgrade of the American family and society nobody sits around a table any more for a fast food type service anymore. It's all take out now.

Reminds me Vicksburg used to have one still over by the mall. Does it still exist?
yep, still there and it's still a Pizza Hut. Haven't been inside of it in years, but the drive-thru does a lot of business

The fresh made full size pizza is better than you expect honestly. Used to love it when mom would come home with some Hunt bros lol. I still crave it from time to time.

boardtown pizza may get a look.....

I haven't been but want to. Honestly it looks like the only legit pizza in Starkville at the moment. Dave's is def above average but you don't want Portnoy scoring Dave's Dark Horse Pizza... The best pizza in Starkville by a long shot was City Bagel on Italian night. The co-owner Paul, who made all the bread doughs daily, made the scratch pizza dough. Homemade tomatoes sauce and the sickest oven in town by a looooong shot. Man, miss that place. Iykyk

He's missing out then. Chicago style pizza is in a league of it's own.

Chicago deep dish is definitely fun and good but in a fair food way. Giordanos in Chicago doesn't hold a candle to say a John's of Bleecker in West Village imo. A lil Chicago side quest if you like deep dish and you're in town with friends: hit Labriola because it has good deep dish and good Italian food. It's not the best deep dish in town and it's not the best Italian in town but it's does both well so you can do a combo meal. Deep dish for the table as an appetizer so everyone can get the experience and then a nice pasta and wine.

Mario's is the best. Doubt if there is one within 75 miles
