trying to be positive maybe and saying at least RU is beating the ones it's supposed to beat.We beat awful teams, what’s the point House?
We started 3-0 in 2021trying to be positive maybe and saying at least RU is beating the ones it's supposed to beat.
Northwestern beat Minnesotan.
That might not be a big deal, but shows they're not as big of a cupcake as many here might think
VT beat Pitt, showing some life in that program and making them look not as bad as some make them out to be.
Both programs are ones RU should win against, and that happened.
Enjoy the wins, don't make them out to be P-5 Wagners.

Disagree - I think both of those teams would've dropped one of the first three games. We're better, but not good enough to overcome turnovers, penalties and missed assignments...We started 3-0 in 2021
We started 3-0 in 2022
Both those teams would be 4-2 today.
Both those teams would be favored against MSU this week.
No excuses

The fact that so many did not expect to win, or even have much hope of it, in Year 4 speaks volumes.Since apparently I missed the fact that many people expected to win yesterday, just curious
Pre seasonSince apparently I missed the fact that many people expected to win yesterday, just curious
you can look at it like we beat a team with no life r one that isn't as bad as some want to make it look like.NW beat Howard 23-20 at home yesterday.
Pitt is 1-4 with a win over Wofford.
Nothing wrong with saying we beat likely terrible teams.
It's okay to admit it without trying to overrated who we beat.
It's like the "BC and Temple are good" posts last year. Two teams who turned out terrible.
Rebuttal: Why would you not update expectations as more information is gathered?
Seems very weird to just stick with preseason expectations based on limited at best information.
For example, preseason Wisconsin was considered a non-starter as you point out.
But after seeing Rutgers for 5 games and then Wisconsin for 5 games - why wouldn’t you reevaluate?
Michigan State is 2-3 (0-2) and fired their coach.
If you thought the they would be good preseason, would that still make sense after 5 weeks.
“Ya I know they have actually played games but I’m going to stick my original perception and ignore any new information.”

Pre season
Good news: exactly at the 4-2 mark
Bad news: One more win the rest of the way
Now modified to 2 more wins
Sure- but if RU is better...wouldn't that mean the criticisms of GS are wrongheaded?
Was thinking M state and Indiana to get to six nowSorry- I missed it...you thought we'd have 5 but now you think 6 or vice versa?
Sure. But alternatively, if we are where everyone expected all along - wouldn't that mean the lauding of HC GS was also wrong-headed and premature?
Was thinking M state and Indiana to get to six now
Preseason I would have put Michigan stateWasn't that expected? What were you thinking before?
Preseason I would have put Michigan state
in the loss column, although it would have been our closest loss
Now, with all their problems, we should win
Maryland is not a program we should be emulating. They're another perennial underachiever and extremely inconsistent. But certainly they at least have a functioning offense. We have an offense that can't score more than 2 TDs in Big Ten play unless it's against the cellar dwellers, and even then it's 3 TDs at most.So...maybe I missed it. Maryland is a year ahead of us in rebuild. They are beating teams of Wisconsin's caliber?

But we score 2 TDs or less against EVERYONE not named Indiana. And Maryland is a bad yardstick precisely because they can't elevate themselves much either. But other programs have done a better job.Emulating...no. But they came from the same circumstance.
I am pretty sure they scored literally 2 TDs vs OSU this past weekend.
If we get to 6 wins will you stop posting on this board?we are exactly where we should be record wise
that doesn't mean the team is where they should be
record and team effectiveness are two different things
we may get to 5 wins, we are not getting to 6
have to agreeBut we score 2 TDs or less against EVERYONE not named Indiana. And Maryland is a bad yardstick precisely because they can't elevate themselves much either. But other programs have done a better job.

This year they scored 24 against Northwestern. Last year it was 24 against Indiana and 21 against MSU. The year before it was 38 against Illinois. That's really bad and all the other 1 to 2 TD games were clearly not enough to win. Two TDs doesn't win you many games in any conference and never will. Even 3 won't.Except when we've scored more than that against, at least off the top of my head, Michigan, MSU, NW, Illinois...I think even against tOSU in 20.
Also the B1G is a defensive league. This isn't one where you need to score 50 points. Teams regularly win scoring two TDs.

Speaks volumes of what? When’s the last time you went to a game? When’s the last time you donated to the program? You’re a typical keyboard warrior that does nothing but complain. The fact that so many did not expect to win, or even have much hope of it, in Year 4 speaks volumes.
Lol making it an attack on me, as usual, shows that you have no defense of the coach. Take a seat.Speaks volumes of what? When’s the last time you went to a game? When’s the last time you donated to the program? You’re a typical keyboard warrior that does nothing but complain.
This is the biggest issue that we as a program face. That we don’t have the support of better programs. You want better results? Step up to the plate or shut up.
I don’t need to defend the coach. He’s 4-2, exactly what he should be. You’re attacking the coach without providing him the support he needs to beat better opponents. That is unfair.Lol making it an attack on me, as usual, shows that you have no defense of the coach. Take a seat.
The same rule applies to us. We lose most Big Ten games because we rarely score more than 13 or 14 points. So far this year, the only Big Ten victory is the game where they scored 24 against Northwestern. In general, 20pts scored is the baseline to consider winning a game.
Few game have the winner scoring less than that.
Now, scoring 20 doesn't guarantee a win obviously but that's the benchmark to think about winning.
For example, in all of FBS last week (approximately 50 games) only 2 teams scored less than 20 points and won.
Old Dominion over Georgia Southen (17-14)
Clemson over Wake (17-12).
